Will This L.A. Market Buy Generic Sports Talk? (L.A. Daily News)

Of course they will. Why? Because if you took the best local talent and put them all on ONE station, you couldn't field a 24 hour station that would get any ratings. LA is an awful sports town and 24-hour Laker talk is the reason it's hard for anyone to listen to the same drivel over and over. No creativity, talent or abillity to do good radio PERIOD. Sports talk is brutal because most that do it don't understand that it's got to be good radio first and foremost.

Also the lack of a pro football team hurts sports radio ratings. Laker talk is actually what made KLAC somewhat decent getting a 1.0 share which was a 1st in the history of any sports station in town. KLAC and Fox Sports Radio might not be around next year and KSPN will become the dominant sports station with the Lakers. KLAA will continue with it's part-time sports talk built around the Angels and infomercials. This is what L.A. sports talk radio has become. L.A. will never have a WFAN or WEEI type station. It just won't happen on the west coast.
