William Hurt Dies: Oscar-Winning Actor For ‘Kiss Of The Spider Woman’ Was 71

The Good Shepherd, was a particular favorite. Playing a would be Allen Dulles.

He did a lot of supporting roles; I remember him from 'Syriana,' 'Into the Wild' as the father of Chris McCandless, and 'Altered States', the horror film from 1980 that was his first movie role. I haven't watched 'Broadcast News,' and while it's from the '80s, I still should.
May he RIP.

Sort of ironic perhaps that he was one of the stars of The Big Chill. They should play Heard It Through the Grapevine at his wake.

But yes, very good in Broadcast News.

Hurt was a versatile actor. Many many memorable performances including "Altered States", "Big Chill" , "AI", etc... Very cerebral and skilled performer...
