WILM doesn't offer the FOX News Radio coverage of the GOP Debates

How the former mighty have fallen. It used to be that if there was a radio feed available for such programming, the old WILM would have gotten permission and aired it. Today's WILM is a Fox News Radio affiliate and could easily air the Fox Radio coverage of the GOP Debates that their network carry, but each time, including again last night, did not carry the Fox News Radio coverage.

My guess is, if there is a CBS radio feed available, WDEL, our local CBS radio affiliate, would offer the debate on the radio unless an Eagle's game conflicted. I guess Chris Carl, who is the PD at WDEL can give us the answer. I wish that WDEL would be able to offer all the debates (my guess is most are not available for radio) as most have been on cable stations that I don't get so end up watching online, but would frankly prefer to listen to the radio as that is portable and my computer isn't.

Disagree Mike. Whatever is driving the current debate cycle, this debate a week idea is simply turning the debates into a weekly series like NCIS or House. You still have the basic cast of characters, behaving basically the same way, with an added guest (Moderator) and a variation on the plot line.
With NCIS, the focus varies. One week they focus on Gibbs. Then the next weeks, Tony, Ziva, Abby or McGee. The debates are the same. One week its Mitt. The next weeks its Rick, Ron, Newt or whoever they think will get them the best ratings.

There is no way I would disrupt my normal program flow to include the debate. If you are going to do that, drop the talk shows and bring back radio "soap operas". There would be no difference.

I'm looking at it from a different point of view. I don't have cable, so I can't get CNN, MSNBC, or Fox. So I have only online. There are others like me, who might want to hear the debates, some don't have cable or are at work making radio their only option; or in their car and radio is their only option. This effects especially registered Republicans who may want to be informed in making their choice in who they'd vote for in the Delaware Primary. I realize Delaware's Primary won't make or break any candidate, but still, those debates offer more real info about the candidates in their own unfiltered words than any radio or TV political ad or newscast. Sure, this time around it does seem like a "reality show", but the info is still there, with no spin by either lib or conservative media.

I don't mind watching online, but it's real irritating when their online thing doesn't work very well and you have a difficult time getting to watch it so you miss parts, keeps cutting out, etc (Fox is the one I have a problem with, none of the others). Of course they want you to watch them on cable. That's where Fox Radio can be of service. WILM used to always go out of its way airing such programming back when the Hawkins owned the station. Since CC they stopped. It is what it is, but I see it more as a public service. Also, it would seem that WILM's typical listener is a Republican so they'd want to hear those debates. I'd assume they lose some listeners during those debates. So if you miss the debates, you're stuck with hearing the talk show's feed you the clips they thought were important, not a great idea for getting the full flavor of what each person said.

As a die-hard Republican, I have watched one entire debate and half of a second one. They are simply saying the same things over and over. The next morning, I can hear the high lights on Imus.

I already know which candidate is sleezy, which one is creepy and which one is a dope. I know that G.O.P. prez candidates from Texas can't talk very well. What else do I need to know?

Where have you been, if they can't make money on it and automate it, it doesn't happen. WILM is a joke. Elliot's not bad, I listened to him years ago in the Baltimore market, but other than that it's to the bird. And WWTX is even more of a joke, it would be better running religion than the bird 247
