WISH Adds Chicago’s WRJK To Indiana News Channel

https://tvnewscheck.com/article/more-news/254092/wish-adds-chicagos-wrjk-to-indiana-news-channel/

DuJuan McCoy, owner, president and CEO of Circle City Broadcasting, and Ravi Kapur, owner of independent WRJK-LP Chicago (DMA 3), today announced an agreement to broadcast news from Circle City’s WISH Indianapolis on a subchannel.

WRJK will carry more than 80 weekly hours of WISH’s News 8 broadcasts in the Chicago and Northwest Indiana region to more than 800,000 Hoosiers in Jasper, Lake, LaPorte, Newton and Porter counties — counties in which Indiana voters do not currently receive Indiana-based news. Additional dayparts on WRJK will feature national news programming from Michigan-based NewsNet.

“WRJK is elated to partner with WISH-TV and NewsNet to provide Chicago’s only 24/7, over-the-air news channel,” said Kapur. “This is part of our longstanding commitment to underserved communities in the region.”

Interesting that a Chicago TV station is going to air WISH-TV News. Im not so sure how thats possible or if anybody in Chicago is really interested in watching Indiana News in DMA 3 though.

This is a joke. WRJK's contour barely gets into Indiana. The signal has a null directed at Michigan City, Indiana.

Also, since WISH's newscasts began airing on WFME in South Bend, I watched many hours of their newscasts. They have no reporters in South Bend, or anywhere outside Indianapolis. I couldn't tell any difference in how the newscast was produced, compared to when it only aired in Indianapolis.

This would make a lot more sense if WISH produced a broader "Indiana" newscast with less stuff directly focused on Indianapolis for this network. No traffic, weather maps including the whole state, sports reports should include Notre Dame, etc.
