With the new upgraded signal i get 93.1 well but still not 105.1

I live in crescent hill and now with the 93.1 upgraded signal i get them well whereas before it was hit or miss but with the upgraded signal at 105.1 i can't get them any better. The only time i can is way down I-65 south in sheperdsville. Did the peeps realize what they were doing when they upgraded 105.1???

I live in the Highlands, Bardstown and Bonnycastle area - 105.1 is much better here! It used to be real fuzzy, but is strong here. 93.1 is also sounding better than usual, great to hear about the upgrade. I am a happy rocker! Oh and is anyone else suprized that a certain someone couldn't even give the fox some props without throwing in a slam on LRS. ::) DUDE NEEDS THERAPY!

The point of my post was not to comment on either station but to talk about the signals it was nor pro or con against either station. learn to read know-it-all and i have said before i will say it again here the format on lrs is greatly improved they just need to ad talent there is none to really speak of on that station.

It makes no sense at all that you can only get them well, "down I-65 south in Shepherdsville." LRS should be worse in Shepherdsville than they were before, as now they are farther away, and possibly now have terrain shading where they didn't from the old site.

How far down 65? I would not think you'd get them very reliably past the Brooks Hill Rd exit because of shadowing. The transmitter has been moved about 5 miles further north from the previous location to Mitchell Hill. Mitchell Hill is those three towers up on the hill at the 65-Snyder intersection.
As I have mentioned earlier, moving it to this location solved some of the shadowing problems they were having into the south end of Louisville, but the trade off is they are now putting a null over the city to protect adjacent channel 105.3 in Scottsville, IN. To me, that is a bone headed moved, but then again, Radio One was famous for them. Main Line should have let that CP die. I wanted to look at the tower behind Caeser's where B-96 was already located. To protect Scottsville there, we would not have put a null over Louisville.

Thanks Greg for clearing that up for him...you need to understand he only wants to post bad stuff about LRS true or not - which is fine with me, I work across town from them...it just gets tiring that it is so one note. I have a question, what do you think of the 93.3 signal, we've gotten some feedback about recpetion to the east. I am NOT an engineer (PT board op), so just wondered your thoughts?

and Radio One stock closed yesterday (Tue 5/27) at 69....not dollars...CENTS. $0.69.

I already heard the fox say "you can't get us in bowling green or bloomington with our new signal but you can get us all over the ville" or something like that.

well with the tower in Clarksville, I imagine that is why

For all those who don't like 93 or 105, I'd like either one of them in place of Z103 or 100 Double "Q".

The tower is in Edwardsville and it hasn't moved, so by increasing the power they will have improvement everywhere.

You mean 93.3 in Shelbyville? Their antenna is so low that it just can't do very well. They didn't select the antenna site by looking for something that would work well, they just put the tower up on land they already had. And it's not at the top of the hill they are on.

They have significant multipath problems on the west side of Shelbyville, near Walgreen's. But if you like what they play and want to listen, they are listenable from Simpsonville to Waddy. They basically cover the county, which isn't bad for their power level. A height increase would do them wonders.

As someone who was indirectly involved (working for the same company) with the sign on of 105.1 I have to ask, How did they get an upgrade? Fifteen years ago the frequency was unable to upgrade to the equivalent to 6kw.

The story on the birth of 105.1 is an interesting one. Long story short it was an example why cable companies shouldn't run a radio station.

I had an interview at 105.1 in the summer of 1993 when i was like 21 to do sales they were a very interesting hot ac then. Inxs followed by air supply. I don't think they ended up hiring anyone the station didn't last all that long as a hot ac and went to soft christian favorites. Bluechip should never have bought that station that was a huge mistake!!!

The station was WEHR and its heart was in the right place but the owner Century Cable was, well a cable company. Century's crew of VP's with MBA's understood cable, but radio was beyond their scope. They were willing to purchase top of the line equipment but the once the station signed on the air, support ended. The promotion budget was zero as it was expected to immediately turn a profit. Beyond coffee mugs and a billboard or two nobody knew about the station. It never registered in any form with Arbitron.

It lasted for a short time then Century put 105.1 on life support. They didn't sign it off because it was felt the license would be worth more on the air than silent. For a year or so WEHR 105 was "The Flying Dutchman" of Louisville Radio, noting but music, jingles, liners, EBS test, and legal ID. An operator stayed at the station during posted business hours to comply with rules, a remote dialer notified for EBS and transmitter operation was automated with the control point in Owensboro.

There is much more to the incompetence Century (Cable) Communication was as a radio owner. I really need to write a book, it would be entertaining.

Is that Century's equipment up on the hill next to the old 105.1 tower?

Possibly, depends on the equipment.
