…as in, dead air. A friend tipped me off to their lack of programming. Apparently it's been going on for several weeks. Friend contacted someone at WJLD and WIXI was off within a few hours, but it's back on with dead air again as of yesterday.
I can't imagine there are many potential listeners in the Jasper area for Richardson's R&B programming and Birmingham-centric talk programming, so if there's an issue getting the audio to Jasper from Fairfield, seems like it'd be more cost effective to just shut the transmitter off until the issue is fixed.
It's a shame they've run into trouble; I got to hear the station before it was sold, back when it was still bluegrass and Americana type music and it sounded really, really good. And I've heard from several people who hear it fairly clearly from east Birmingham all the way to Florence. Not bad for a high bander with 12 kW.
