WJJG AM-1530 Signing Off The Air For The Holiday Months

Just heard yesterday from Rev. Johnny Dodd as he was saying that WJJG will be going off the air for a few months for the Holiday Season, and will resume back on the air as of the 1st of Februrary. He did NOT mention the reason why they were going off the air. My guess is that they might be trying to cut back on the cost of airtime fees and other things that maybe involved with our today's ecommony. this is what I heard yesterday. Corect me if I am wrong.

Thank you
Bob

There is nothing in http://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/app_list.pl?Facility_id=32227 about this. I know they are sometimes slow to post. However, this would need a STA from the FCC for this to happen, correct?

The FCC states that they must be notified if operation are discontinued for more than 30 days. The notification must be made by the 10th day of discontinued operation. FCC Rule 73.1740

No mention of an STA required....just an informal letter, I believe.

I guess Joe Gentile can't cover the electric bill during these short daylight months. The economy hits the little guy first.

WJJG is a sunrise to sunset station and the good Rev would only have 45 minutes to be on the air so he may feel it not worth his drive. The station operates 7:15 AM to 4:15 PM

By the way, I have a show on WJJG and can say that the station is NOT going off the air for the holidays. Only the Rev does not want to do a 45 min show. We will play music for that time period before Ray's show. Hope this settles any worries.

That makes a lot more sense. Thanks for the clarification.
