WJMK shows the door to Greg Brown, Fred Winston, and Dick Biondi .......

A fellow poster informed me that this afternoon WJMK released Dick Biondi, Fred Winston and Greg Brown from DJ duties. Dick Biondi is doing his last show right now and I am listening to it. Have you guys got any more infomation about this? Thanks!!!

Greg, Dick and Fred were laid off by CBS, among other 150 employees who also lost their jobs. For all intents and purposes, WJMK's live oldies format is coming to an end. But I am sure we have NOT heard the last of Greg, Dick and Fred. I wish them all the best. They are a class act.

Just heard from Dick Biondi - He mentioned the 150 jobs cut and his last night at WJMK HD 2 and said that one door closes, another one opens - I do believe that you are correct that fine DJs will be heard again. Thanks for the information!

I heard from reliable sources that Dick Biondi was found unconscious last week, while he living inside of his old secound hand Jalopy. Someone had told me that he had ulcers while he was under allot of stress.

They have to get a PD first--Jeff Schwartz quit ZZN and ESPN last week, supposedly partially because management was dragging their feet on hiring a local afternoon drive guy for ZZN.

In the Radio Hall of Fame for being at his peak 45 years ago.

I'm not happy about the layoffs, particularly because it's not good for the development of HD-2 as a legitimate attraction, but the idolization of Biondi continues to confound me. Since when are "don't drink and drive" and "c'mon and smile!" considered dazzling ad libs? Dan Ingram and Lujack at his peak could eat Biondi for breakfast.

It would be smart for WZZN to try to grab these jocks, but with new owners coming in and the current satellite fed format, thats very unlikely.

How awesome would it be if many of the WJMK jocks went on some new oldies station in the city? A huge campaign saying "we're back" and heavy promotion. Its a dream that will not come true.

Don & Mike were all over Biondi's firing today. Don had a few run-ins with Biondi back in the 80's, it certainly sounds like Dick should have been shown the door about 20 years ago.

God forbid Biondi go back to college and learn a new career.
