WKLB to 102.5/99.5 WCRB to Nassau

According to AllAccess, looks like WKLB is definitely headed to 102.5, with 99.5 and the WCRB property going to, of all companies, Nassau. Hopefully we'll have more information soon.

Yes, All Access is reporting this as being pretty close to happening. You know what that means?? Another one-dimensional pre-fabricated format, courtesy of Nassau. Hey Boston, get ready for The Wolf, The Fox or Frank to come a knockin'!! :-\

There's already too much competition in Boston (and Merrimack Valley/Southern NH) for all of those formats - country, classic rock, classic hits... I'd think the only way they could make a go of it would be to do something different. Maybe try moving classical there? Not really the prime signal location for it, though...

All Access is saying that Nassau is buying the WCRB intellectual property as well. And they do own the low-rated W-Bach network up in Maine, which ironically gets much of its programming from WCRB's World Classical Network. Though you have to wonder whether Nassau really wants WCRB, or if they'll just keep classical running until they can get some research done to find out what to do with the station. As Eli said, 99.5 isn't a great signal for classical as their signal isn't that great downtown, not to mention the low billing.

Interestingly, Nassau's "Frank" WFNQ 106.3 in Nashua pulled nearly a share in one of the recent Boston books. Could Nassau move WFNQ to 99.5 (which overlaps with 106.3), and do something new on 106.3? Then again, there isn't really any room for another classic hits station in Boston.

Hmmmmm, seems to me a few weeks ago, I asked if Nassau would come down to the big town and play... I was shut down. I won't say I told ya so! ;D But, all kidding aside, it's early yet... so we shall see. The big question still continues... what's the format going to be? Perhaps move Frank to 99.5 (as someone else pointed out) and take 106.3 to make a simulcast of another station they already have running? 105-5 JYY (CHR) or maybe Oldies?

Time will tell!!
