WKNQ 90.7 Dyersburg is now CCM as K-love

WKNQ 90.7 Dyersburg is now Klove
WKNA Senatobia Ms is off apparently making transition to AFA.

I am unable to hear Ripley from here but is it still K-love or have they changed it to Air1?

So far there has been no change. I thought that after the pledge drive that it might happen on Friday or Monday but it didn't. I also thought that it might be that the change might come before Air 1's pledge drive started, but in listening online I found out that their pledge drive has already happened. The only reason that I can think of that the change hasn't happened yet is if they're waiting until GMA Week in Nashville is over since both networks are broadcasting from there. Other than that I don't know what is holding things up. I'm still hoping the change happens though.

Well they have 94.7 94.9 and 1170 all on K-LOVE here in Memphis but the city grades for 94.7 & 94.9 don't touch each other... Together they cover the metro with a b grade signal mostly. But 94.9 ( Ripley very redundant to 90.7 ). It's a total waste. I don't support the big non profit off the bird conglomo they have. I think the public would be better served by local radio stations but that's not the business 98% of owners are in. There are few unique places you can visit driving through the country today punching up and down the dial.

I'll admit that if 94.9 in Ripley doesn't change to Air 1 that it will be a waste of that frequency. I'm also hoping that 88.9 in Union City might become Air 1. I noticed that the station on 91.5 in Blytheville that EMF bought from AFR is now Air 1. Has the K-LOVE translator in Millington come on yet?

I received an e-mail today that WUKV 88.9 in Union City will be changing to Air 1 effective May 1st. I tuned in to them and they're announcing it on the air as well. The e-mail also said that 94.9 in Ripley is still being evaluated, probably because of 94.9 in Memphis and the translators.

For where I live in Alamo 94.9 would be a better option, but I can get 88.9 in Union City at my house. WAY-FM has a translator in Dyersburg on the same frequency, but they have a CP to move to 89.1. Once this happens Air 1's signal will be better in Dyersburg. 88.9's signal is spotty toward Jackson so 94.9 would be better for there. It may take a little longer for 94.9, but hopefully EMF is moving in the right direction.

EMF also has a CP for 88.3 in Brownsville that looks like it will be Air 1, but it will only be 100 watts. This is definitely more of a reason that I hope 94.9 will change to Air 1 as well.

Millington has not come on yet

I found out from Brian Marchand, another poster here that keeps up with CCM radio, that EMF has sold the translator on 105.5 in Millington and the CP for WRRI 88.1 in Brownsville to Radio Assist Ministries. I'd take it that this is because of EMF's purchase of 90.7 and that they won't be needed now. However 105.5 will still be carrying K-LOVE from KKLV 94.7 once it is on.

WRRI's CP runs out next Saturday so they will have to be on at least temporarily by then. It was supposed to be Air 1, but this may change now. I found out that Radio Assist Ministries has their own network, Freedom Radio ( http://www.freedomradiofm.com ). It's a mix of CCM and secular pop and rock. I'd guess that there's a chance that this is what WRRI becomes. Actually from what I've heard of it on the web it's not bad. Hopefully we will find out something soon.

There is still nothing new on when 94.9 will change to Air 1 yet. I know because of changes that may need to be made because of 94.9 in Memphis and the translators in Jackson and Brownsville that this may take longer. But hopefully it still will happen.

DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE NEW EMF STATION THAT IS SUPPOSED TO COME TO SELMER?

EMF HAS A CP THAT I BELIEVE EXPIRES IN DEC..... SUPPOSED TO BE A 20,OOO WATT STATION....

Apparently Radio Assist backed out of the deal for 88.3 in Brownsville, and that permit has been cancelled, so it looks like that station won't be coming on. I had really hoped that this station would come on and carry either Air 1 or Freedom radio, but it apparently won't be happening.

Also, 94.9 in Ripley is still carrying K-LOVE and hasn't changed to Air 1.

Also, is 105.5 in Millington on yet?

More news concerning 94.9 in Ripley: From what I found out from Brian Marchand who does a great job of keeping with these things, EMF has applied for several changes to their Memphis area stations. They have applied to move 94.9 in Byhalia, MS to Germantown, and to also lower the power for 94.7 and move it further Northwest. The biggest change though is that they have applied to move 94.9 in Ripley to Hayti, MO. Apparently they are trying to improve the signal for 94.9 in Memphis, although the move to Hayti won't cover anywhere that isn't already being covered by 90.7 in Dyersburg.

Along with this, they had already applied to move KAIA 91.5 in Blytheville, which carries Air 1, to Bloomfield, MO. Between these 2 moves it might expand K-LOVE and/or Air 1 further into MO, but apparently most of West TN won't be getting Air 1 other than the areas that can already get it from Union City. I'm disappointed in this, but not really surprised.
