Just looking at their recent podcast offerings vs. CBS Sports Radio's (Mary Kay Cabot, latest on Chudzinski, Nick Swisher comes to Cleveland, etc.), is it any wonder why WKNR and Rizzo are considered total jokes in the national sports radio world?

The Really Big Show (by it's own admission) is designed to be more of a "mancave" style program (i.e. a mix of hot talk, sports talk, and free wheeling talk).

On 92.3 The Fan, it's more geared towards nuts and bolts, Xs & Os, straight up sports talk (except for Kiley and Booms in the morning, who are also more of a "mancave" style show).

Today, RBS was much more sports focused (obviously because of the big news), but on slow sports days, they'll go more into mancave stuff.

On 92.3, it's sports-sports-sports, period (excluding K and B in AMD).

VJM is correct, IMHO.

That's the main reason I rarely listen to WKNR except for Brinda when he's on alone, Roda & Reghi from time to time.

But, it's wall-to-wall Browns on both stations 80% of the time+....so, I guess I don't hear that much sportstalk in Cleveland any way. I do check in on 923TheFan a lot...but I'm gone the second I hear anything but Indians/MLBB or Cavs/NBA.

The stations have to go with what the majority of listeners want...even if it's not what I want (Cavs, Indians)...I get it.

The podcasts tend to feature interviews, Grossi, or non sports topics-I actually like listening to the Hooligans when they talk non-sports, I think they are far and away better than Rizzo and Hammer, and would probably do a better mancave show, imo.

Hooley is a talented guy, but the pairing with Fedor is mind-boggling (I'd say he should be relegated to the weekends but he already is and he's unlistenable. His speaking pattern is not one of a successful radio host, he also has nothing in the way of a sense of humor. Have no problem with him being a know-it-all if that's his style, but it's tough to be that when you've never worked anywhere else or covered events anywhere else. He has nothing in the way of experience to give him legitimate background..

As for Hooley, he's completely being misused. The guy is a fantastic writer but never writes for their site. Meanwhile, he's saddled with two un-entertaining guys on the radio. I've seen the ratings, and his hiring has not paid off. But I blame their PD more than Hooley.

Hooley and Brinda are fine. Fedor is the problem there. Karmazin for some reason likes these hosts that people overwhelmingly can't stand. (Fedor,Goldhammer and Munch) Every time they do those joke surveys on WKNR Karmazin comes on there saying 98% of people responded want to hear Fedor, Hammer and Munch even more.

I like Brinda, Fedor and Hammer are terrible. Rizzo spins Hammer as "controversial"-he's not-most people hate him because he is annoying and a bast host-same with Fedor-and it has nothing to do with them coming across as "negative" all the time-Brinda is cranky and negative but a good host-why KNR keeps those 2 around is a mystery. I listened to the survey show-Hammer and Fedor were by far the hosts everyone wanted to go, but Karmazin spun it as ""32 precent think Fedor is the worst, so that means 68 percent must kind of like him"-not true-you were given like 10 names to choose from on the station.

I agree with the comments about Hooley. I wish he would write more for the website, especially about OSU and college sports.

Fedor is just not entertaining or informative radio. I really wonder why he is on that show. Keep him as the update guy and interact with him duyring the updates (remember Roda in the early days of WKNR). What is Fedor's background? Hooley was at the PD for years. brinda has been on the air for years, but what about Fedor? Is he one of these Ohio Broadcasting School guys?

KNR hit a home run with the hire of Grossi. I love his stuff on the website and when he is on the air. And then you look at the other guy on the station who covers the Browns (Will Burge) and you wonder what is his role. He is another guy where I have to question his background. It seems guys like him and others on Cleveland radio who pass themselves off as experts or insiders do nothing buy repeat info they pick up from the national guys on twitter.
