WKOB drops RTV for Drive In 24/7 Movie Network; CBS NY Plus to launch on 2.2

Seems as if WKOB has dropped RTV from ch 42.3 and replaced it with Drive In 24/7 Movie Network. Movies from the 1930s through 1960s.

CBS plans to launch in the next few days a news, sports, weather and entertainment channel on a soon to be created subchannel of 2.2. It appears that it will be a way for CBS to utilize content much the same way that their website does, with input from not only their TV station, but also their all news radio stations and all sports radio station here in NY.

I wonder what Fox will do with their two stations here in NYC? I hope someone picks up MeTV. And I hope RTV can be resurrected, hopefully with some better programming. And I sincerely hope WKOB can increase their power and get some cable carriage with their new format.

Even after re-scanning my TV a couple days ago 42-3 still holds the "RTV" channel label.
I have not seen WCBS 2-2 show up yet.

RTV is a mess. They should take it out back and shoot it. There are so many more compelling options out there now that the best thing would be for RTV to just go away.

WKOB took weeks before updating the name on their other channels, and they never include any info on individual programs. I also notice that they no longer post to their facebook pages, yet delete posts that are added. Also, still no word about a movie schedule for 42-3, nor anything about a channel change/power increase that they attempted to obtain from the FCC.

As for WCBS' 2-2, I can only guess that the launch is delayed as they continue to renovate their news studio. CBS+ was supposed to launch last month according to press reports.

WKOB moved some channels around, announces it is hiring

WKOB moved the 24/7 Movie Network to 42.1, HOT TV to 42.3 and the infomercials to 42.4. They have been running an ad stating that they are hiring, sales positions for HOT TV 42.3

They really need to move to a better channel number if they plan to be taken seriously. I doubt there are many people that even know they exist.

I know, it is not possible to tune them in after dark in NYC due to the interference from streetlights. I think they tried to apply for another channel as well as a power increase. They stated a few months ago on their FaceBook page that they were working on their signal. Have not noticed any improvement.
What is really annoying is that they made changes to their channel lineups and program lineups that were unannounced, they also place no recent updates on their FB pages while deleting messages posted by multiple viewers. At first I felt sorry for them, I really do have other thoughts now.

I wonder if MeTV will ever be picked up by a local station. Also wonder what will replace Universal Sports and how long duplication will continue on channels 5.1 and .2; 7.2 and .3 & 9.1 and .2.

WKOB added MHTV, Mundo Hispano TV

Looks like WKOB added Mundo Hispano TV, yet an ID they aired today on 42.1 stated it was WMBC 63.4. Does anyone know what happened to the 24/7 movie channel? For a while WKOB had a .5 channel when it launched TUFF TV, could they have put the movie channel there? (I didn't pick it up in a rescan.) WKOB has been deleting posts on their facebook page, and all these unannounced changes certainly don't help with viewer relations. They are advertising that they are hiring sales reps for HOT TV 42.3 -- however that channel appears to be frozen now. I felt sorry for them at first, but it really seems as if that station is totally disorganized.

I also noticed that WNJU has launched Canal SOI on 47.3 (no channel 47.2). An ad showed a number of other affiliates all carrying SOI on a .3 subchannel.

Thank you for all the WKOB updates, NYC Viewer! If they could fire up the 42-5, I'd be happy....

Last I checked, RTV covered less than half of the US -- and dropping. They have been in a steady decline -- they have more defections than they are adding new stations. The current lineup is awful. if it does not change soon, I can't imagine that stations will stick around.

As for WCBS, they are now planning to launch their subchannel by the end of the year.

Re: WKOB

I tuned in WKOB for the fist time in weeks today. I was hoping to catch "Life of Riley" which is on the schedule for 10:30 on Sunday mornings. Instead, I saw nothing but a test pattern. Tuned in again later, but still just a test pattern.
The Spanish language channel still on the .1, Daystar on .2 and the commercial programming on the .4. Did not pick up any new subchannels, such as 42.5 they had for a while. Does anyone know the status of HOT TV and/or the 24/7 Movie channel they had for a short while? I know they stopped updating their FaceBook pages a while ago.

WKOB recently added another religious network to their .5 subchannel, replacing the test pattern which is still on the .6 sub.

CCTV airing on 32.1 seems to have anogoing technical issues. The screen is constantly frozen, split in half horizontally with nearly the same image in both halves and no sound. From time to time the image changes, but it continues to be frozen.

Still hoping that MeTV will make it to the NYC area soon, WSAH is impossible to tune in and is not carried on cable.

WSAH is carried on Verizon Fios, RCN, and Directv in NY/NJ/CT.

But not on Cablevision nor is it possible to tune in over the air, even with a rooftop antenna. Besides, WSAH preempts much of the MeTV lineup for their own local inserts of household and personal care product infomercials. Bleech!
