The radio geeks' favorite TV series is available on DVD, now exactly as originally broadcast (no cover music).

Series creator Hugh Wilson made the announcement on Slate's "The Gist" with Mike Pesca.

Why WKRP Was Called WKRP

Secrets from the creator of Cincinnati’s most famous fictional radio station.

WKRP in Cincinnati creator Hugh Wilson explains why it took so long to release the classic TV show with original music.

I am SO ready to order! :)

Not exactly as broadcast....the set actually contains about 85-90 percent of the original music (sorry, no Beatles or Pink Floyd for example).

Probably the best it's ever gonna get.

Yes - the Pink Floyd guys are very serious and particular about their music. For example, you can only get Pink Floyd - the Wall as an album - you can't buy single cuts. They feel that the album must be heard in its entirety, not in pieces. Frankly, given that they are the creators of this music, its justifiable.

When I was a kid, before I was aware of music copyrights, and having to pay royalties, I used to wonder why music you'd hear on TV shows (other than the soundtrack) was so generic. For example, when Mannix would walk into a nightclub on an investigation, the band would be playing the theme from Mannix. It always seemed lame, but it was just producers trying to avoid paying royalties.

I was never an avid WKRP viewer. What Beatle songs aired on WKRP? Are you talking about actual recordings? Any solo efforts included therein?
