AM is an endangered species north of the border. There are none left in Prince Edward Island. Almost every week, Scott Fybush's NERW mentions another Canadian AM abandoning the band.
In fact, the CBC is actively converting. Its clears in Montreal (940) and Toronto (740) moved to FM and CBC sold the frequencies. It's 50K in Moncton, New Brunswick (1070) just went dark. I believe the only big AM the CBC has left is 690 in Vancouver (and their pattern probably hits Honolulu at night).
That said, an application could probably be presented to the CRTC for an improvement on the US side since there seems to be little interest on for AM in the True North.
