WLNE meteorologists Chelsea Priest and Jeff Desnoyers

Chelsea Priest, the longtime morning and afternoon meteorologist, decided not to renew her contract and her last day at the station was November 4th. And just now I read that fellow meterologist Jeff Desnoyers (on his facebook page in a statement by him) that he is leaving the station November 18th. So that leaves Kelly Bates,a recent hire,as the sole meterologist until new ones are hired. I wonder if these leaves have to do with the pending sale of the station to Cox Media Group?

Just move Kelly Bates to weeknights, and make her chief. She deserves it. Its overdue.

Is there a sandwich board sign outside the WLNE offices: "Desperately seeking Meteorologists"?

Reminds me of the time in the 80's at WJAR. Ghiorse departed for WLNE and then the noon weather guy left shortly after, leaving poor Art Lake to do the weather 7 days a week until they hired replacements.

They should let Kelly Bates by chief meteorologist during the week I always liked how she explained the weather. I always remember when a flag is blowing straight out it's blowing about 30 mph.

She has big shoes to fill. Both Jeff and Chelsea were excellent and well liked. If she hasn't reached chief status after all her years in the business, it may not be in the cards. I imagine ratings will play a part. If more people tune to her for the weather, it might happen.

Two new meteorologists started at the station about a week ago, namely Skylar Spinler and Geoff Bansen, who came from News 12 Long Island and FoxWeather. They had Bill Gile and Nick Morganelli for a while and I'm not sure if they are still with the station. What's odd is that Kelly Bates started at the station last year, but the newest member, Geoff Bansen, is referred to as the Chief Meterologist.

Yes, I've heard Bansen referred to as the Chief Meteorologist but haven't seen a graphic with the title yet. With ad revenues down and so many leaving jobs in the market, it's a wonder that anyone would come here. Channel 6 doesn't appear to have funds to rebuild their studio and replace equipment. It's been months since the fire. Don't know where Kelly Bates has been, Gile handled the weekend shift last weekend.
