McConnell's not coming back. No way Clear Channel would re-hire him. The Sloan move appears to me to be more cost savings by CC. No need to pay another employee benefits. Just increase Sloan's salary a bit to do double duty.
I listened today out of curiosity and have to admit that I like Sloan with Tracy Jones better than Fingers. Much as Eddie was loved by some, he just seemed like a burned out WEBN derelict to me. Sloan is a better talk show host and straight man to contrast with the annoying Jones. But I wonder if listeners might eventually tire of too much Sloan.

Scott Sloan just posted on his facebook page how this will all play out beginning Monday, 10/25...obviously he is now Tracy's new co-host, Doc Thompson moves from 9pm to 9am and Eric "Bulldog" Deters finally gets his shot at radio immortality during the 9pm - Midnight slot....

Wow. The jealousy of some people is staggering.

Scott Sloan in the afternoons with Tracy. That's interesting. Sloan has always been more suited for nights, as he is the night guy that most people associated with WLW (after Willie). His eccentric style fit perfectly in that timeslot. It doesn't fit as well in middays, and especially in afternoons, when there's a traffic report every ten minutes so he can't go one of his patented rants.

And he'd probably have that night opening permanently if he didn't need to do a little thing like sleep a couple of hours a day. 
For everyone who reads these Radio Blogs for information or entertainment.....Do you understand
the perception of the Industry ( being on the Radio ) that others Not in the business have of the
Industry ? I have found over the years that the general public feels You can't be a plumber,
a Doctor , a Researcher , a NBA player , a Fireman , but all these people who do other jobs
aka sports figures - attorneys and newspaper writers just Jump into the Boradcasting Profession
and be the next Robert W. Morgan , Rich King , Jockey Joe Kelly , Paul Purtain , Jerry Thomas .
There have been people over the years who have been "Naturals on the Radio with great natural
talent and the ability to communicate" to the listner. Some of these people have Even been ex-
jocks from the Sports World . Others have tried and failed . Many because they have had an
"idea that anyone can do this gig and its simple " !
Some of these people have an ego and unmigtigated gaul of self importance ( Tracy Jones &
Eric Deters ) that they think they actually are Gods' gift to radio broadcasting . As in general
over all observations of the Broadcast Industry - Radio talent has gone down over the years .
Eddie Fingers was "just Ok for WEBN's format " ; but when they stuck him on afternoons it was
painful to hear his weak performance along with a side-kicks delusional ramblings of a Big Head
Sports has been from years gone bye . Just because You make money , does not take away the
fact that insiders in the business are laughing at you . Eric Deters brags about being an Attorney
in the area and his great knowledge of History . It just goes to show us all who are not in the
elite circles of Eric Deters & Tracey Jones ; you can be hired on a 50,000 watt Large Market
station ( not Major Market ) with no experience , bad English grammar , 8th grade command of
the English language and come off like a Carnival Barker , loud mouth blow-hard obnoxious boring
over-bearing bulley who must continue to beat a dead horse with his opinion over and over again
as he asks for callers and interjects off the wall quotes from famous people or his grandmother
or relative into a aimless-rant of ramblings that you expect to hear on a "truck drivers 11 meter
radio " ..... this is what WLW Radio has become over the years . Darryl Parks ( just like Randy
Michaels ) has taken a once Great Radio station down into the mediocre mud filled with Jerry
Springer want-to-bes and no talent ( I'm a Attorney --- call me off the air ) loud mouths that
don't understand how a Microphone works ---- You don't have to scream into it ; it is built to
work with a Normal Modulated voice and someone who has a Educated Mind !
.......after "Jim Scott" leaves WLW will be just another sounding bland -- borish radio station
in Ohio with num-scull pikers working there complaining that Willey got all the money . On the
plus side for WLW - they have the Big Money "Rate Card" for sales in the market . But a Whore
by any other name is still a whore ! The above is a personal Opinion by the writer. I have no
anger toward WLW radio , nor do I know anyone that is employed there. It is just a opinion of

I have always liked Jeff Katz. I would prefer him 3 -6 PM. I always liked Jerry Thomas. If he would come out of retirement, I would make him 9 - noon. Leave Cunningham where he is. I would get Furman back for 6 - 9 PM. Put Thompson back to 9 - midnight.

It is pretty disastrous right now, seemingly with Scott Sloan being plugged in everywhere like a dutch boy patching holes in a dike. And Sloan sucks in any other slot than late night because he's manic.
Big Picture: WLW needs some real competition with local talk talent...listenable outside the 275 loop.

I could care less about the train wreck of the show that they have created now. Scott Sloan is as bad as Tracy Jones.
Scott Sloan is the equivalent to a junior version of Morton Downey Jr. minus the bad language. In the fact that he talks out of ass, all for ratings and nothing else.
WLW's afternoon slot is sad state of affairs, but then again it IS Clear Channel we are talking about. Go figure.
