they are working here! ( at home on my laptop)
On mozilla they play for about 10 seconds, because that's how my browser is set up, but in Winamp, RealAudio, or Windows Media player they will go on for as long as the box in the back room works ( yes sometimes they need to be rebooted) and the streaming host is up and running.
If you paste the URL into a media player it will stream endlessly. It's to bad the URL isn't formatted as MMS:// or a .MP3 that would default to your media player of choice in your file association preferences.
How Grady has it set up is a Barix box for each station, that will support 6 connections. If you don't have a Barix box, they can be a sweet setup for doing remotes VOIP where the remote site has a internet connection btw
One connection is at the transmitter as a backup for the telco line should it go down, one is for the streaming host, then there are 4 for corporate use, and that could be another MRBI station rebroadcasting our stuff in another market (we used to run one of our NY stations at night, in theory they could run us) Jeff, Grady, Scott or I could be checking the audio at the rack. We don't divulge that URL to anyone.
The streaming company adds a bunch of capacity we don't have for public listening.
Since many of our customers have friends and family around the world, it would not surprise me if the streaming server was getting a lot of connections from Puerto Rico, Brazil, and the various Soviet republics.
