On Saturday Night, Winston-Salem , NC had a great Christmas Parade (with lots of real snow). Everyone followed Santa down to Triad Park where a large pre-planned Christmas Tree Lighting Event was held. The mayor, live entertainment and much more was there. The programs being handed out said that WMAG-FM was one of the main sponsers. Rod Davis (Morning Man) was scheduled to be the emcee up on the stage. The large WMAG-FM van pulled up right as everyone was coming into the park. Gues what??? NO ROD DAVIS!!!! The event started 35 minutes late (with everyone standing around in 30 degree snow) waiting for Rod Davis!!! He was a No-Show!!! What a total lack of class. The event finally started 35 minutes late with a Downtown Offical stepping in to replace an absent Rod Davis. Has Davis been let go by Cheap Channel? Why wasn`t he there? The event organizers were so upset that they didn`t even mention WMAG has one of the sponsers. Who can blame them? By the way, the WMAG-FM van went speeding off before the event started, and nobody could find Rod Davis. This made WMAG look BAD. Does anyone have any more info about this- very shocking. First, Bill Flynn gone, now Rod Davis?????

Some of your sources have to know what went down.
I'd try to scare up a score on some info, even if you gotta drop a few c-notes, just to make it easier to sleep when your head hits the drooly side of the pillow.

I think I just channeled Frank Drebin.

All of my local sources at Cheap Channel have been layed off, fired or mostly quit!!! The local Cheap Channel operation has been letting EVERYBODY go lately (with more to come). You are luckly to even spot a LIVE person down there anymore!!! The place is a ghosttown!

Well you gotta work your sources you got left man.
Are you sure you read the flyer right?
Maybe too much egg nog and cold weather affected your circulation, leading to delusions of mustachioed dj's wanting to emcee a tree lighting in the snow?

BTW google is no help.
Rod Davis WMAG Winston-Salem Christmas Parade didn't return any pages with all those phrases in it. Adding no show to the search box didn't help.
Google doesn't seem to think it happened.
Maybe it didn't happen at all?

Maybe Bill Flynn hijacked the WMAG van and kidnapped Rod Davis. I heard the van was last seen heading toward Mount Airy with a trunk of old albums and my sources say WPAQ 740 AM is going all oldies. There's also a bluegrass collection listed for sale on craig's list which seems to add credibility to this story.

I still have the flyer. Rod Davis is listed as the emcee. WMAG-FM 99.5, Duke Energy and Piedmont Federal and the Dowtown Winston-Salem Alliance were the sponsers. With the no-show of Rod Davis, they refused to mention WMAG at the show! I am sure that the Downtown Winston Alliance can provide you with more details, if interested. Was Rod Davis on WMAG-FM this morning?

Be sure to recycle.

Great group of Companies

I wouldn't have mentoined him either

I'm not.

Was Rod Davis on WMAG-FM this morning?

Yes and he sounded better than ever.

I was listening to WMAG on Saturday around 3pm and Rod Davis was on air and said himself that he would be at the program in Winston. I wonder what happened to cause the no-show.

You know how people are around here when it snows! Isn't everything canceled, surely it was? No?!!??@%$*@? Blew that one.

Bu Mr. Davis REALLY pissed off The City Of Winston-Salem and the Downtown Winston people. I was right down there with the mayor. They were LIVID, and had NO idea where Rod Davis was!!! Everyone was franticly looking for him!!! He was a No-Call No-Show!!! By the way, a VERY large crowd was down there!

"frantically looking for him"

Seriously? The city of Winston-Salem and the downtown people?
They were all in a tither, looking in every crack and crevice?
For a dj? Who was supposed to be there, but wasn't?
Seems like they would have thought "dj" and "the van's already left" and come to terms with this a whole lot earlier than to go "frantically looking for him."
Can't someone else hit a button? Talk about your clergy/laity distinctions crippling a people.

The last poster got it totally wrong!!! WMAG`s Rod Davis was hired to ENCEE that event, not be a "d,j.". There were several live performers and groups along with city officials that needed to be introduced. So, he was hired to be an encee, not "push a button". By the way, the WMAG-FM van sped away AFTER about an hour delay looking for Rod Davis. It did make him and WMAG-FM 99.5 look liked that didn`t care about the listeners or the event!

Rod was tghere. I didn't go, but a friend said they saw him there and that the city was very pleased with the job him and Majic did for the event. Another radio success story!!! ;D ;D ;D :D :D :)

Rod WAS NOT there!!!! Your "friend" is wrong!!!! Call the City of WS and ask for the Downtown Director!!! He will tell you about it!! No Rod Davis was there!!!!

Rod Davis is a d.j. in real life. Well, in radio, as close as that comes to real life.
That's what he's known for, that's what got him the gig to ENCEE that event.
"Pushing the button" referred to lighting the Christmas tree. If he wasn't even doing that, then someone could have stepped up before 35 minutes and took care of the button. Or switch, or whatever it was (does your flyer specify?).
Was he just supposed to introduce someone to do that or was there a whole program planned, in the cold, the snow, and the freezing temperatures with darkness looming?

Was he hired, or was it just part of the "sponsorship" that WMAG did for the show?
Check your flyer.

So if it took 35 minutes for someone from the city to step up and push the button, then the WMAG van waited 25 more minutes before they split.
How long did you stay at this shindig after the buttonpushing deed was done? It was dark, it was cold, and they probably had to go ENCEE :D something somewhere else for actual money or drugs or sex or t-shirts or whatever d.j.'s get paid in these days.

All of the above! And they are NOT Majic!
