What ever happen to Henry Cooke, Pat Sheridan, Mark Edwards (Car, Pool, Quiz), Bob Beasley, Jm Hamilton, Floyd Brown, Millard Hanson, and Jim Hill. Are any still around? When I was a kid I hung around the studio's at the mart and must say Bob Beasley was one of the nicest guys there at the time.

Last I heard Pat Sheridan was in Milwaukee, Floyd Brown retired. The rest I don't know.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, so I can get the right era in my head.

Is this the mid-late 60's?

Bill Warrick did traffic from a station wagon that got stuck in jams.

The network had Gene Shalit, Dr., Brothers, Stan Martin Sports, and....the Monitor Beacon on the weekends?

Jack Eigen was on Saturday nights (on radio but from one of the tv studios - I was there quite often.)

Or is all that, later? Couldn't be much later.

Didn't Harry Volkman do morning drive-time radio weather. Quick turn-around after doing the late weather on WMAQ-TV. He would phone them in. I remember Henry Cooke teasing Harry about his Marlin car -
as a running gag on the air. Henry sometimes did booth work on WMAQ-TV in the morning.

In the same era as Henry Cooke, Floyd Brown was midday and did booth work for ch 5..

Jim Hill: another BIG guy was on tv duty and had a DJ shift.

Jack Eigen was a long time but often obnoxious talk show guy, on after 10pm or 11pm for 3 hours. He did remotes from the Chez Paree restaurant for years on 670.

Then NBC hired Burt Sherwood and decided to drop MOR and "go country" for a few years before going all news.

I never did know where Henry Cooke went. Norman Ross is now deceased. He was on fm100 evenings doing the LaSalle Bank Evening Hour.

The farm guy at q was Everett Mitchell. The "Farm and Home Hour" "It's a beeuuutiful day in Chicago!" I believe he was there PRIOR to Orion's coming to wgn in 1960.

John Doremus went to WAIT (discussed in that thread).

Didn't Jack Eigen retire in the early 70s? 1971 I think.

I wonder if any airchecks exist of Bill Warrick (This is Warrick at te desk" doing traffic and/or Everett Mitchell doing farm stuff. He was a character. I remember them both when I was a kid.

Probably right.

My experience with Jack Eigen is 64-67ish.

Yeah I have an aircheck of him from 70 & I think 71 was his last year.
...actually, I think he came out of retirement and worked at WIOD Miami in the late '70s (perhaps when Larry King left for Washington?)...before coming to Chicago, he did a show (for WNBC?) that originated from the Copacabana nightclub in New York, and his name sounded so funny to Fred Allen that Eigen's name became a running punchline on the last couple of years ('47-'49) of Allen's NBC show...

You're probably right I remember he moved to Miami.

I've been i touch w/Jim Ruddle, today. Remember him; wgn-tv Park-Ruddle News, and WMAQ-tv news, also wmaq radio.

Jim (an old friend) reports Henry Cooke is gone - shortly after he left q.

I kind of thought Henry was gone, but I wasn't sure.

I believe Pat Sheridan left us a number of years ago. He spent a number of years in Milwaukee....WISN and perhaps elsewhere....after leaving Chicago. Among other things, he did an excellent sports talk show. Not unusual for him to get callers from Illinois given WISN's blowtorch (sort of) signal.

Pat was a joy to listen to on the radio. He hosted a sports show in Chicago for quite awhile before heading back to Milwaukee.

Henry Cooke had "Officer Vic" Petrulis (x-wls) for traffic. But first this from karoll's red hanger shops and Seno and Son.

Cue the jingle
(It's perfectly normal to have fun when you go formal when you rent your tux at Seno's."

When Officer Vic was at WLS he was a semi star. He used to show up at the visitors gallery on Saturdays and pass out autographed pictures to the kids.

In the early 80's when I was on a Community College Board Officer Vic applied to become a security guard at the school. He looked terrible at the time. He never got the position.

Hi, I found this page from a google search. I am Henry Cooke's granddaughter. I am sorry to confirm that he died in 1989. But very pleased to see that his show was enjoyed and that people remember him. :)

Thinking about Floyd Brown, what a pair of pipes he had. He did a Sunday night show well into the 80's on WGN.

Until he left WGN, he hosted a show with a very savvy investment/financial expert. I want to say it was Terri Savage. I may have the wrong woman. He then hosted the last 2 hours of the show playing good music, it was standards, big band and jazz. Music that was not heard elswhere.

I think he was on until 3AM when Steve and Jonnie came on. They were on 3-5:30 Sunday through Thursday. They followed Eddie Schwartz when he was on 11P-3A on weeknights.

Floyd either retired or was forced out and the music was done away with. Sadly I think Mr. Brown passed away a couple of years ago.

He had that very strong, deep, authoratative voices, yet very comforting, a lot like Lyle Dean. I wish I would have appreciated the music he played more. I was a lot younger then, what I wouldn't give to hear that voice and music now.
