WMDV-44 Full-Power Test Scheduled for Wednesday 6-9-10 at 6:00pm

WMDV-44 in Danville is planning its first full-power test on Wednesday, June 9 beginning at/around 6:00pm.

Final tuning of the transmitter is expected to take place earlier in the day. Studios have been installed on North Piney Forest Road (across from the tank museum) in Danville, and the microwave relay link is operational.

For this test, subchannel 44.1 will be used. Color bars will be up on 44.2, 44.3 and 44.4, but no programming is expected to be presented on those channels for the test.

Regular programming of WMDV-44 should commence the weekend of June 19th, pending permanent power installation at the transmitter. Of course, any reports of reception will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt Smith

Earlier today I saw a preview for channel WMDV 44.2 on WGSR. I am a Chatmoss Cable subsrcriber. During the preview the host mentioned the that Chatmoss will put 44.2 on Channel 79 and We might get the Martinsville station as well. When should I expect to see these channels on my cable.
Thanks

We are hoping to see it happen this week. Chatmoss has ordered equipment to enable them to carry all four of the 44 subchannels, and it's just a matter of the equipment getting there and installed.

We are close to announcing carriage of WMDV-44 on at least two of the systems of Comcast Cable, but we're still working out details there.

Matt -

Been enjoying the updates on the launch and sign on of WMDV, anything new happening or going on with the station?
Live in Atlanta, so not in the viewing area...

We were limited to about 30% power for a few weeks due to a component failure, but we were restored to full power last week. It has been interesting, because the other Danville TV station, WDRL, went off the air last week, and people have been calling us asking if we are them...which we aren't. In the meantime, we're enjoying the attention.

We've covered a few area festivals on the station, and the annual "Pros vs. Joes" football game. Chatmoss Cable has WMDV on the system, and Comcast will have the station on soon throughout Southside Virginia. If Dish or DirecTV would show a bit of interest, we would be happy.

BTW, we do stream WMDV live to the internet 24/7. Here's the link: http://www.wmdv44.tv . Thanks for your interest.

Just curious what is rhe coverage area of your signal.
Thanks

Just got the word today. WMDV-LD was granted its license by the FCC. For those in Southside we are now on the digital tier of Charter Cable Ch. 16 in most places but on Ch. 20 in South Boston and Halifax. Chatmoss Cable carries the station on Ch. 15. The main channel is online 24/7 at http://www.wmdv44.tv . Over-the-air our signal puts out an ERP of 15kW with a directional bearing of 235º from White Oak Mountain, north of Danville. If you want to see what our signal pattern looks like, the map is here . . . . http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/FMTV-service-area?x=LD1341302.html .

Its to bad that you are not a full power station as you could fill the void of DRL-24 to a larger audience. It look's like Charter has roadblock DRL-24 from coming back on the air untill they either sell its licence or liquidate their assets. Just to bad after all these years
