WMEE Playing Classic Country On There Christmas Music Channel

May have just been testing with some golds from their sister country station. I've heard of other stations doing this in the past.

So, does that mean after the holidays we could see a format flip?

If WMEE flipped formats, I'd eat my old 98.9 The Bear shirt. With paint on it.
WMEE, while it may lose and gain listeners over time, it remains stable. With WQHK (K-105) and WFWI (92.3 The Fort) also grabbing good numbers and loyal listeners it would be STUPID for FedMed to change things now. That's my opinion at least...

Yeah, a flip would not be in FedMed's best interests. WMEE seems solid... why fix something that isn't broken?

Except in mornings, but who listens to radio for the DJ's anymore. Also, Brady hasn't been on the air the last half of this week.

Tweek WMEE back to CHR,, dump Tesh and the classic hits, and quit trying to be a CHR/Hot AC/Jack FM hybrid,,,, who the heck are they trying to target... Theyt better go mainstream CHR, before Hot 107.9 adds even more POP and non Rhythmic tracks,,, WMEE used to be the poor Default CHR for Fort Wayne for years,,, then we got Z-102.3 with Rhythmic Dance music and some POP, which was fun while it lasted but had a weak signal,,, we had Star 94.1,, started out as Alternative/Modern AC hybrid, but shifted to Mainstream CHR toward the end... And of course for a few years we had Dance Music on Energy 102.9,,, Which...Does anyone know who owned them,, they played classics from 10 years ago and never updated the playlist until toward the end when they got jocks, and changed to Fort Waynes Hottest Music,,, and kept the Dance format intact, but added more Hip Hop and POP in the mix.. Then we had My 103.9 flirting with CHR for a short time, and we had B-106.3 Not ONCE, but twice,, there was a 90s version of B-106.3 too..... WMEE was a good CHR during the 80s, up till 94, but why did they go AC then, and why has no other CHR or Dance format..(THOUGH NOT RELATED) Why do these formats not work here.. Is it Adverts, or just older demos?

Fort Wayne diaries tend to be from older listeners. CHR wouldn't be a big ratings winner 30+ but would probably make an impact. IF, and only if, an owner takes a chance and does it right instead of just slapping some "hip" imaging and and new music onto a stick. However, given the current economic state, I'm not so sure that anyone would be taking such a chance anytime soon.

Having said all of that, WMEE going CHR would be a mistake.

Why do you say that, if they dumped the soft stuff and oldies, they would be an adult friendy CHR, but they still play Rap and hard Rock that other ACs dont play, but yet play much older and softer songs than other AC Hot AC stations would play in this decade. Maybe 107.9 should just lean a bit more CHR, throw a few Dance songs on there, and leave Wild 96.3 to serve the Urban crowd. I always thought two Urbans in the Fort was over kill.. You also lack a good Mordern Rock station since 96.3 went hip hop.. 98.9 The Bear is harder and plays more older stuff than the old 96.3,, I forget the name of that station, but I liked it.

I think Tesh belongs to WAJI... WMEE has Billy Bush... I can't pick up Hot here - does Seacrest play Top 40 or only hip hop?

Just curious.....Why would you suggest that WAJI dump Tesh? Have you seen his ratings in Ft. Wayne? He pulls in big numbers....

Yeah if Tesh is on WAIJ than thats fine,,, If billy bush is on WMEE and seacrest is on Hot 107.9, I think both shows are voiced tracked and customed to fit the format and playlist of a stations certain format,,, Also, the stations can delete songs and add songs as well, just like when Cassie Kasum was on ACs in the 80s and 90s, most the rap and hard stuff would be deleted and filled in with something else. If Billy Bush is on WMEE for his nightly show, im sure WMEE trades off certain non adult friendly songs, and plays some softer or older stuff in its place,,, but im not sure, im sure someone at my work can tell me for sure. We dont alter any of our programs music or adds at the CHR top 40 station I work at.

I think when 96.3 was doing rock, wasn't it Extreme 96.3, and the hip hop was on 102.3? Then at some point they flip flopped the rock to 102.3 and the hip/hop to 96.3. Then unfortunalty it was sold off and flipped to Hispanic.

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure the Billy Bush Show on WMEE is being ran live. I will occasionaly here tones on the air, or short pauses where some stations will bail to breaks.

Here's a question for you crazy kids... Being as the old 96.3/102.3 was brought up, do you think Fort Wayne is need of an alternative rocker back on the air? The Bear does very little alternative, focusing on Active Rock. Do you think alternative could work in Fort Wayne???

Ya know I'd LOVE to hear alternative on Fort Wayne's airwaves...but I don't think anyone would bite the bullet unless theres a TON of ad cash to be had. Right now (if you're in range) 91.1FM, Homestead High's station, does a GREAT job with the music. The power issue kills them. Columbia City's high school station USED to do more, but when Tim "Mort" Moriarity left it went more mainstream. (with VERY LITTLE student involvement...sad really.)

You give me a station to program right now, I might think of alternative, but personally I'd probably stick to an AOR/Metal combo...since that's what I like... and I'd be dark in 6 months... ;D

This subject has aroused suspician that some brilliant thinker at FedMed purposely put classic country on WMEE's stream as some deep, well thought out devious ploy, hinting of a flip. No, that's not the case at all, my friends. It is nothing more than a reflection of the incompetence of WMEE's management. They did the same thing last year. According to a well-placed snitch in the north FedMed building, they had quite a laugh about while Moe, Larry and Curly down south raced to fix it. K105 apparently streams classic country on their website, and somehow it got programmed into WMEE's site instead of Christmas music. No breech of intelligence, here. Just an exposure of stupidity...again. ;D It's all jingle belly now.

Their Christmas steam is currently not playing Christmas ... it appears to be the normal WMEE program.

Wow...when did YOU jump on the clue-bus? WMEE has been playing Christmas over the air for over a week now, and moved the normal programming (minus commercials and jocks) to the stream.

I haven't listened a while, but I figured MEE flipped to Christmas on air because Majic did. WME-Ditto.

btw, is it time yet for the annual WMEE morning show shuffle?
