WMGK/Philadelpha Flips to 102.9MCK-All Stones All the Time

https://news.****************/artic...lpha-Flips-to-1029MCK-All-Stones-All-the-Time

Beasley's WMGK-FM (Classic Rock 102.9)/Philadelphia will officially flip to exclusively play Rolling Stones songs, dubbing itself, "102.9MCK - All Stones All the Time" in honor of Mick Jagger and The World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band's upcoming concert on Tuesday, July 23rd at Lincoln Financial Field. Trading in its usual wide array of Classic Rock hits, 102.9MCK will focus on a variety of tracks from the 49 live and studio albums released by the band throughout their career.

102.9MCK will also provide complete concert coverage beginning at 2pm (day of the show) with afternoon host Andre Gardner broadcasting live from the venue.

Its a Promo for Rolling Stones concert at Lincoln Financial Field.

What a great way to lose listeners who can't stand the stones (i.e- myself) but still likes other classic rockers. MGK-HD2 it is for me today!

Guessing they wouldn't be too upset to know that!

I like the Stones but don't want to hear them all day long. I listen to MGK at work fairly often, but I doubt they care much what I think either since I'm 1,000 miles away and have only listened by streaming them in my office.

"102.9 MCK" Sees Ratings Gains for July 23 Stones Stunt - from InsideRadio.com:

http://www.insideradio.com/free/ove...cle_092171e0-aead-11e9-8e42-0fbdd8ced460.html

"The station experienced a 49% increase in quarter hours (QHRS) week-over-week,
with 73 QHRS (P 25-34) accounted for on July 23, compared to 49 a week before and 51 the day prior."

More proof that the average variety-hungry, burnout-sensitive RadioDiscussions poster and the average non-radio-geek listener are completely different species, so different from each other in what they expect from radio and how they think about music as to be impossible for the other to understand. I guess we know now why SiriusXM is in love with giving individual artists a pop-up channel for days or weeks at a time -- average fans of those acts tune in and stay tuned in and care not at all that they're not hearing any other performers on those channels or that those channels are being used to promote a new album or tour.

I think we understand.

The "average radio listener" only cares about what they like and want. That's understandable.

The average radio pro....understands that....and understands the business aspect of the radio and has respect for a variety of formats and talents that go into successful broadcasting, regardless of their personal likes/dislikes.
