I'm not sure I'd call it a format. It's the ultimate train wreck, just a toy for its wealthy owner, Joe Weber.
How does it compare with WREK's format? ;)What is planned for 1160? Air America?

What ashame too. AM-1160 use to be a decent respectable radio station when it had good jocks and Music Of Your Life. Now it's "Horrific"!! and has no listeners except Joe.1690 will follow the same fate as well.

>Now it's "Horrific"!! and has no listeners except Joe.That's funny. My senior citizen mom listens to it regularly. And it has a button in my car....

I hate seeing Air America go. I have it on XM, but I enjoyed listening to it on 1690. This is the radio geek in me... but, I really liked hearing CBS Radio Network News on the top of the hour. :)

Well that's nice it has 3 listeners. Point being it's just Joe's 50,000 watt ipod and nothing else. If someone else happens to listen they won't for long.

I will try and be nice about this statement. If you had money, owned a radio station, could buy one with a better signal that does not have to drop too much in power at night, would you really care what people thought? I would play a really weird format that I just knew would go nowhere, called Un-regulated noise, consisting of anything from Dogs barking, Chain saws, glass breaking, have a 24 hour swap shop station, Play explosions , whatever! It would not matter in the least what anyone said, or did, because at this point Joe Weber can do just that. Now as far as it being a smart decision? Thats entirely another story for another day! But in the mean time I think its justice to state that no matter what you think of the format, no matter what anyone may call him, or the station, It's all his to do with as he wishes. And besides It's really better than whats on air there now.. I am not taking aim at anyone's political beliefs, nor will I , its just stupid to do that anyway. But If I planned on having a left wing station in a town the size of the ATL, I think I would approach it a little different. I would try and bring on as much LIVE in studio hosts as possible. Al Franken is Frankly a blithiring idiot. It almost makes the entire left wing party look the same way.Now please read all I have written not as any sort of attack, But view this as just what it is. A Opnion! It could even be looked at like a programming adjustment. In either case, Lib radio would just sound and actually make more sense for those who need it, IF if were programmed locally and live. Thank you for your kind reading time. ;D

I agree with lilburncommunityradio about Air America. Some of their programming bites. I am a liberal and can only take so much. I do like Mike Maloy. I have liked him even back in the days he was live and local in Atlanta. I can only take so much of Randi Rhodes (sp?). She grates on my nerves after awhile... on the other hand, so does Shawn Hannity. I just don't like that type of show... they both annoy me equally. Al Franken is better than Randi Rhodes, but I also think he wanders and does not really entertain. One of the best shows I have heard on WWAA is a weekend local show with a Rabbi as a host. It is different, liberal, and entertaining..... and LOCAL.I am a firm beliver that bad local is always better than mediocore network.Lastly, I do like the CBS news at the top of the hour. I miss radio network news. :)

Thank you ! I am far from liberal, but I still stand on the point that syndicated radio programs just suck. Live and Local is the Key, look at the leader WSB.No matter how bad it may seem, they have the act tied up! They have , with the exception of Hannity stayed live and local. Boortz, and Howard both originate here,so its still live and local, and makes sense. I could even possibly stand to listen, to liberal radio if it wasnt this poorly done thing called Air America.. Name, alone sounds stupid. Lets see some real competition in the market.. Liberal live and local radio.. That would be cool. At least a change? Just a thought.

Though I am more conservative, and can't stand the programming on Air America, I really do want to see it succeed. Radio needs to have all points of view- not just the right, which seems to be the case. I do agree that local is best.

Well at least I know what real programming is, I do work in the biz.... Do You?I really doubt it.. You make the money, and you tell me then what you would do?
I'm glad you know what real programing is,care to let us know what you do in the biz? Or what part-15 station you have?By the way I do work in the biz and have for 30 yrs.and still going strong at a 100,000 watt FM in the Big "A" Thank You!

"I would play a really weird format that I just knew would go nowhere, called Un-regulated noise, consisting of anything from Dogs barking, Chain saws, glass breaking, have a 24 hour swap shop station, Play explosions , whatever!"You wouldn't know it from the Clear Channels and Cumuluses of the world, but there is an FCC rule that says a radio station must serve the public interest. If you programmed what you're saying you would, you might have a bit of a problem at license renewal time.

Roddy and all youre probably right.. And as far as where I work, Its located at 750 on the am dial. We know how to program, but as far as Joe and his station are concerned, I still say, who cares what he programs, its still far better, than syndicated lib programming. Why fight over where we work, lets suffice it to say,am lover that youre where your at, and Im where Im at... You have good ideas, and At times Im known to have a spark or two.. The unregulated noise thing , comon, It would be funny at best.. Hey and by request another set of sounds of the home, and the human body,,,,,,,,,,,pturffff, lol.. Besides, I have always thought that a radio station just goin off the wall would be great... Hey, to say the least it would and could only sound better than taking a small 1000 watt station and turning it news talk, when and again, it was done to a local community radio station that served its area well, now its just syndicated program after another one.. Just YUK.. Local radio shouldnt be done that way.. No matter who says it should.. And if you cant afford to staff it with local people then sell the damn thing....
