WMTR 1250 Now at 7000 Watts at night-Anyone hear them better now in NYC ?

Just wondering now that WMTR has increased their power to 7000 Watts at night has the sinal been much better in and around NYC ? I haven't noticed much improvemnet here is South Queens but was wondering how its coming in at night at other areas in NYC with their power increase.

I live in Flushing, Queens and have a GE Superradio. My reception of WMTR was not too good after sundown last night.

Let us set the record straight. WMTR has been 7000 watts at night for several years. Most of that is dumped southeast into Raritan Bay using 4 towers. Again, a jump from 5 to 7 kW is not even 3dB (or one half of an "S" unit), which would require a jump to 10kW. Unless you're a fish, it's of little help.
As the late Herb Michaels, former owner of WKMB, once observed..Few people even bother with radio at night. It is the chief reason why Herb didn't want to spend the money to take the station into nighttime hours.
