WNBC/4 To Start Morning News At 4:30 AM On March 1

The NBC O&O will join Tribune's WPIX/11 - also in New York - as one of the few but growing stations starting their local morning news programming at the odd time of 4:30 AM.

I'm sure it won't be long until WCBS/2 and WABC/7 follow suit, if they haven't done so already. Then, get ready for 4 AM news!

Odd time?!? New York is actually behind the times on this one. Most larger markets have had newscasts at 4:30am for several years! See the thread on 4:30am newscasts on the National TV board.

KNTV has been doing this for one or 2 years now for the Bay Area along with KGO here in the Bay Area.

This week is the final week of "Today in New York" which is the 5-7 AM slot. Starting next week right after the closing ceremony of the Olympics, it will be on a half hour early from 4:30 AM to 7 AM. Besure to tune in and find out!
