WNOU-FM (93.1) to read names of DUI arrestees

The days when Cris Conner used this frequency to bring NAPtown a class act seem to be over.
Isn't this the same station that had an employee parade around Monument Circle in white underwear
with a brown stain on the butt side? He was arrested as part of the ratings game. Right?
We need some radio for people with an IQ over 85!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
The entire listening audience for this station (10-15 year olds) will be changing the dial to 99.5 while this list is being read. They're too young to drive, much less drink!

Seriously, why not read names of the child molesters, neighborhood thieves, and people causing harm or crime against OTHERS in the community?

A bad attempt at ratings that will alienate a segment of the audience. I have never had a dui, rarely drink and never drink and drive - but I find this a bad stab at ratings.

Fortunately, I don't listen to today's bland so-called pop music (I would think the ratings would show not many others do either).
 
I'm saying if you're going to embarrass and call people out for a "one time offense" - then why not also do it for those who CHOOSE a life of crime?

I never said calling out DUI offenders was wrong. I don't agree with it, but if you're going that avenue, I'd rather know a child molester, or thief lives near me than someone who was picked up for a .09 DUI.

A DUI is a choice, but usually not a "way of life." I still do not condone it. But a premeditated intent to assault or take from others should be getting more attention than DUI offenders. But there's no money in that - is there?

Holy crap, sometimes you just wonder what goes through the minds of those lunkheads over at Emmis. There's so much potential in those four signals, yet so little forethought, insight, and common sense in their collective programming and execution.


Boggles the mind, doesn't it?

EMMIS and Radio Now....
I remember a few years back when they made the flip, Radio Now did a promotion during March Madness they called the promo... Are u ready for this 1... "Drive By Shooting" is what they called it. This promo is where people could drive by on the circle and take a shot at a basket to win. This is just after a round of drive by shootings at the west side skating rink. :eek: DOH! ::)

Then later that year they gave away Radio Now logo butane lighters out on the street and guess what age group got their hands on them.... Yep! Juveniles!
??? DOH! :eek: DOH! ::) DOH!

Maybe there should be a license or something to qualify to operate.... oh, wait a minute... ;D LMAO! ;D
 
Even us talking about it here is publicity. Publicity that might keep Radio Now at the top of your mind. I know nobody in the Emmis organization that qualifies as a lunkhead. fwmw
 
Jeff Smulyan should just drop his pants on the Circle. Perhaps this will help his ratings.
Just moon everyone who goes by. He could call the Star and show his butt to all of Indiana!

I do. A number of them. But Emmis isn't the only keeper of the lunkhead programmers, so relax.

Even good people can make "lunkhead" decisions. In radio, your lunkhead decisions are out there for everyone to hear. Relax fwmw, we all have made lunkhead decisions.

The "publicity" will also not draw me (or many others) to listen through Britney Spears and other "teen" music just to hear a list of dui names that are available for public viewing anyway.
 
They are getting good on air time with 8 and 13 news tonight. That's
a goal that many others would like to have if they could.
 
No doubt, alcohol is a huge problem in this country. It has ruined lives and neighborhoods.
Nobody likes a drunk, not even another drunk. It's disgusting!

But will putting this on the air help? I doubt it. Just more negativity, and we Americans are
getting way too much of that.

Maybe Jeff should just go outside and give Indy the moon for higher ratings. Then they
could say on the air (We can't promise you the world. But we can give you the moon!"

If you live in Indianapolis, you already KNOW what's out there as far as your favorite music formats/stations. This is NOT going to bring more listeners in. If it did, how long would they stay when they break out the Timberlake and Fergie.

When you cannot survive with your basic format, you have to resort to stupid gags, gimmicks, play one commercial per hour (because you can't sell more, then spin it as if it's FOR the listener), etc., - because you CANNOT hold an audience.
 
Radio Now is a good station. Something smells funny here. Yes, I know what it is.
It's the smell of fired ex-employees. They sure can make a stink!
 
Why is it every time someone on here calls out a station, they are accused of being a former employee? How many former employees can there be out there? Having an opinion that goes against a station's philosophy does not immediately mean it's a former disgruntled employee.

So, based on your theory, YOU are a CURRENT employee trying to protect the reputation of your teeny-bop station?

Maybe they can't hold you but it looks like they are a solid #2 in 12-34 Females.
