Woah Nellie! Keith Jackson, legendary college football announcer, dead at 89

He died late Friday night, according to his family.

While he was best known as being THE voice of college football on ABC, he was also the first play-by-play man on Monday Night Football, doing those games for one year while Frank Gifford finished out his CBS contract. He also called NBA games on ABC in the 1960s and '70s, as well as handling the Olympics and Wide World of Sports.

RIP, Keith.

A legend in sports television. RIP Keith. He's now up in the broadcasting booth in the sky with Dick Enberg, Jim McKay and Frank Gifford.

he was a truly one of a kind sports announcer. in 2006, the Texas Longhorns and USC Trojans gave him a great game to call as his final football game before he retired, in fact the game was memorable as the #2 ranked Longhorns came back and beat the #1 ranked Trojans who had the then Heisman winner Reggie Bush (who pretty much caused the USC scandal which resulted in all victories in 2004-2005 seasons, including the 2004 NCAA championship, and Bush's 2005 Heisman trophy) in a great comeback upset victory, which was the last time the Longhorns won a national title as well as their last undefeated season in the storied history of the Texas Longhorns football program, as they would never had a undefeated season and would never win a national championship again, and came close to it in the 2009 when they were undefeated in the regular season and suffered their only lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide that year, which also was the birth of the Nick Saban Dynasty at Alabama.
