wobm beach radio on 104.1 received in center city

I am picking up a strong signal on 104.1 tonight simulcasting wobm, but no mention of it just 1160 and 1310 liners, not even on the TOH ID. Whats the deal, I checked, its not on RL, good to hear in the city, but is this a joke...

Oddly enough it *is* the translator for WOBM-AM. Why there wouldn't be any imaging is odd but its legit. What is also odd is the fact that the data on this link (the L2C) states 93.5 yet if you look closely it says the channel is 104.1 ... 225 watts at 472' is going to get out very well, especially an Omni one. Conditions must be ripe for that signal to propagate tonight. It seems its on the WOBM-FM tower which makes sense as they (Townsquare) might own that tower.

This translator was obviously on channel 228, 93.5 at one point.. sometimes when translators move frequencies, the call letters dont change

i guarentee you the legal id is in there somewhere.. some stations do it right before during or after the 50 stop set

just because you dont agree or like it doesnt make it a joke

Don't translators just have to do a legal ID once every few hours or something like that? The main station has to be every hour as usual but I thought I heard somewhere that translators can go every few hours.

Ah, i thought he meant the AM's legal ids

Translators can ID using a method thats called Frequency shift keying.. its inaudible to the human ear, shifts the carrier a little bit and thats considered a legal id.

translators only have to ID a few times a day anyways

so it sounds like daddydoo is complaining and calling someone out for something he has no clue about

Here in Warminster PA, I always hear B-104(which is WAEB-FM, iHeart) from Allentown on 104.1, so that WOBM tx you're talking about doesn't make much sense to me.

It's a legal translator and if the conditions are right, the signal (from Ocean County, NJ) would carry towards Philly. It is more than far enough from Allentown to legally broadcast on 104.1. There is also another 250 watt translator closer to AC that is fed off an HD4 of WENJ that offers a Classic Rock format known as "Rock 104-1." That signal gets out very well too! The FM band just keeps getting busier and busier!

Funny thing, last night the WOBM signal on 104.1 was battling with a another new signal on 104.1 from Marlton/Cherry Hill re broadcasting Reach Religious Radio. RL has no info on these two new-bes, so after exhausting research I finally found some info WOBM is W281CK and Reach is W281CL one letter apart. Cant wait until later on tonight to see who wins the battle....although the WOBM signal is much stronger on paper.

WOBM's translator is W228EH

WOBM AM does have a translator on 104.1. I'm not sure the calls, but it gets out pretty well locally. i drive through their coverage area quite often. They come in reliably from Seaside Heights to the east and Browns Mills to the west. Totally conceivable they could reach CC Philly on a good day.

Overall this is a great music mix on this station. They have a shot to be widely listened through the Monmouth Ocean market. However, right now there is zero promotion of this frequency. Even the website only mentions 1160 & 1310 AM with no mention of 104.1.

250 watts at nearly 500 feet up will have pretty good coverage.. records show the 3 bay ERI antenna is at:
1015 Atlantic City Blvd
Bayville, NJ

As per a previous post it's on the WOBM-FM tower along Route 9... Also worth noting that not only does WOBM-AM have this translator that is "unpromoted" but so does its simulcast-sister, WADB, on 96.7. It appears as though this one has yet to be built along the Parkway on a tower near the Brick Reservoir. Between the two they cover some real estate!

Great Gold 1410 also has a signal on 100.7, thats not promoted but receivable in Seaside and most of Monmouth and parts of Ocean counties. This is the first time I witnessed two AM stations with FM translators that don't keep plugging the FM signal, not even mentioning it, when most stations do not mention the AM and keep promoting the FM..

Of all the translators, 100.7 hands down is the absolute worst frequency, shoehorned in from EVERY direction. Allentown, Philly translator, Hudson Valley NY, Wildwood/Cape May, Central New Jersey translator, and one Off-Air translator near Roosevelt Monmouth County. Did WJRZ ever move to 100.5 from 100.7 in downtown Toms River?

As of last week when I was in Seaside the wjrz translator at 100.7 was OTA allowing whtg to boom in on 100.7, when they build the power increase they will wipe out everything in the seaside toms river area, including the spotty wzxl. note: wzxl is the only full powered non translator signal on 100.7 in the garden state...

So 'JRZ was OFF the Air on 100.7 and not signed on to their new home at 100.5? That's odd because their License to Cover was granted on 3/16/20. I would imagine if it were on there would have been some major splash on 100.7 since its 1st-adjacent at least towards the Parkway area. Looks like they reassessed the original directional CP granted in '17 for 250 watts directional for an Omni signal at reduced power but still greater than the original 55 watts granted in the late 90's.

To be honest, I didn't try 100.5, but like you said I had no splatter on 100.7, so I would assume the frequency was silent, I had a mix of mostly WHTG and some WZXL..WOBM on 104.1 is clear again tonight like many of the Jersey Shore signals..
