WONG is on the air, but it’s broadcasting silence

Canton’s 1150 WONG filed today for silent authority. They’ve got transmitter issues again.
WONG STA Filing 11/27/24
WONG has a translator, too, which isn’t mentioned in the request for STA. So inquiring minds want to know. Is the translator still on the air?

"We don't need no stinking AM to run our FM."

Actually they do but there are quite a few small town operators that know they will never get caught. The FCC really needs to make an example out of someone. If the translator license is "tied" the AM start the paper work to cancel both. I believe the commission needs to enforce the unfit operator rules. Next auction make it a "two for the price of one" listing

If they are a legit operation, I am assuming they have a separate transmitter for the night service. If so a simple STA to run the night power 24 hours a day could be an economical answer.

BTW: There is a used Nautel J1000 on eBay in California listed at $6.6k. I would take a dummy load to make sure it could run and have a road trip.

I know no one is using K-BUD, and could pick up where Pot Rock KBUD left off at. Yep, a real radio station in Colorado that had a short lived marijuana oriented format. I assume they played a lot of Phish, Bob Marley, Insane Clown Posse....
Wasn't Colorado the first state to legalize cannabis? I'll bet that format launched about the time the first shops opened.

KBUD was the calls of a radio station in Sardis a number of years ago.
