Worst songs on country radio

Speaking of Taylor, put in a vote from me for "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." There's a reason top 40 stations are spinning that one more than country stations. To me, that isn't even a good pop song.

But it's still Taylor Swift. Once you reach such heights of popularity, stations will play anything you send down, even if it's a song about peeing on a sparkplug on Ground Hog Day.
Bah Golly!

tanya tucker singing style while in her early and mid teens was none the less pure country breath taking and impressive. check out hits like "blood red and goin' down", "the man that turned my mama on". songs she recorded at about 14/ 15 years old. we will probably see the taylor swift popularity peak, with the usual affairs, pop music, and acting, and then a drop off into oblivion, all before she hits 30. her music will then be long forgotten, unlike tanya tucker. let us hope and pray that the next little girl sex kitten country act the industry force feeds us, is raised on hard core country. yep, i can see it now, somewhere there is a mommy, and daddy raising a little girl, who will be fed a steady diet of loretta, dolly, and tammy. by the time she is a young teen, she will be ready to take her pure country music singing to the big time, and revive the original traditional country music artform, and the industry will support it(yep, if shes eye candy hot they will). yep, kinda like what ford, chevy, and dodge recently did with the mustang, camaro, and challenger ........

KMPS spins "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" quite a bit. I don't think any country stns spun "Eyes Open" by Taylor Swift, which was a short hit at Top 40/CHR.

^^^ I heard "Eyes Open" a few times on WXBQ of Bristol, TN which is a country station.

Taylor Swift and Jana Kramer are not that great at all. "Why Ya Wanna" is an example of a not so great song, because the lyrics are annoying.
I second that. Every time that song is played on the radio, I find another station to listen to.

Brenda Lee and Tanya Tucker didn't write their own songs, as Taylor does, but they had impressive sets of pipes, whereas Taylor is a mediocre singer at best.
I miss Tanya.

God bless you two and Tanya always!!! :) :) :)

ive said it before and ill say it again. taylor swift aint bad. in fact, some of her music i can like. also a good songwriter from the perspective of a teen age girl, for girls growing up today. hell, i would love to see someone take a taylor voice track, and add real country production with fiddles, and steel. but, to see the industry, and radio fawn over this little girl and over expose her to the point of eventual burn out and collapse, makes my blood boil. weve seen it before with many others, incl billy "achy breaky" ray.

re tanya: in the last couple years, she released a new package of her versions of classic country hits. she scored around a dozen top 5/top 10 major hits into the mid 90's. other than perhaps "two sparrows in a hurricane" from 92, most of her recent hits are long forgotten, and unrotated by todays centralized radio programmer/consultants. back in the 80's and 90's, i landed copies of virtually every new country album/CD release. i did my top 10 yearly picks. it was tanya who made the list a couple times with 1990's "tennessee woman" and 93's "soon". tanya lovers, check out the forgotten hit single from 91 "oh what it did to me". a jerry crutchfield penned gem, sung in pure country hurt grade AAA style. mmmm......now thats my country!

^^^ Its been three years now since Tanya's album of country classics, but I read here that a new album is on the way. :) :) :)

God bless you and her always!!! :) :) :)

I'm trying to think now what the worst offenders are that I've heard lately.

One had something to do with partying until Tuesday.

In another, which I clearly remember being really, really bad, the lyrics had something to do with a cowboy for every cowgirl, or maybe it was the other way around.

Tanya Tucker (as well as her lesser known, but near identical sounding big sister La Costa) is pretty good. Hard to believe she's a "classic country" idol today. I still remember when she was just a kid.

"San Antonio Stroll" (original version, not the remake) is still my all time favorite Tanya Tucker song.

^^^ I love her remake of that song as well as her remakes of "Blood Red & Going Down" and "What's Your Mama's name?" :) :) :)

God bless you and her always!!! :) :) :)

Holly

P.S. I pray that she is doing well these days. Her 54th birthday was on the 10th and her mom passed away on the 2nd. :( :( :(

^^^ Even though I don't have any of Taylor's albums, I always wish her well. :) :) :)

God bless you and her and Miss T always!!! :) :) :)

If I haven't mentioned a song with the words "Sweet Thing", I should.

And yet the song won a Grammy Award for Best Country Male Performance.

It's the same award won previously by George Jones and Johnny Cash.

What has that got to do with ANYTHING? Those two actually perform music I like.

The lyrics are good on a song about the Genesis creation story that mentions cowgirls--but the instrumentals are rock. Just terrible. I may have mentioned the song.

Also, there's one with the words "real good" which is real bad.

I cannot stand Kacey Musgraves' Merry Go 'Round. I think the song has a strong meaning behind it and it has the more classic sound, but I simply cannot stand it. "...Jack and Jill went up the hill, Jack burned out on booze and pills. And Mary had a little lamb, Mary just don't give a damn no more." Really? That is one of the worst last endings I have ever heard for a song.

My submission for worst "refrain", if not worse country song, is Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy...
