WOULD YOU LIKE TO BUY WRMO (FM) in MAINE?

Commercially-licensed to Millbridge, ME. It's only 130 watts, but it has an engineering study saying it could upgrade to 6,000 watts, and perhaps 25,000 watts; the latter two which would cover Ellsworth & Bar Harbor/Acadia Park, Maine to different degrees. A chance to do your own thing on the coast of Maine. If interested, please contact Mike - [email protected]

essentially a license...and that's it, right?

I would guess that might be an option but the LMA between the Estate and McSorley included equipment. I believe the Estate ran the station for a summer a couple years ago before the death of the owner.

I am interested in why a guy who owns two radio stations himself wouldn't buy it?

Because I have my hands full with the two I own. Just think... another public file to keep, and the regulatory liabilities. Can and should only be done by someone who can live there full time. As for me, another station 80 miles up the coast would be too burdensome. I already travel from Bath to Cambridge and back, and Millbridge is not between those two. I'm also age 61, and not desiring to build a broadcasting empire. Additionally, I would like to see some of the folks on this board own a station; makes for more good independent radio. So, there's your answer.

A great scenario, would be a person (and family if applicable) who moves there, buys a house on a high location, have a short tower (75' max) form that high location somewhere (no zoning approval needed for short tower), running the station from the house; therefore no expenses of a tower site, nor studio rented space.... a LOT of money saved for a true mom-&-pop operation. And with an upgrade to Class A (6kw) status, that same tower could be used (if house is really on a high spot) with a likely 1kw transmitter. Electric bill for transmitter, probably only $100/month.
