Wow! 102.9 The Buzz Nashville played Bodyrockers "I Like The Way"

Hey guys, was listening to the radio about an hour ago and 102.9 The Buzz, Nashville's Modern Rock station, played The Bodyrockers "I Like The Way". Great to hear Dance tunes like that one on the radio.
A few minutes afterwards one of Nashville's Top 40 stations, 102.5 The Party, played the Dance version to DHT's "Listen To Your Heart".

Both songs were played in REGULAR rotation :)

We're playing it at Energy 98. I told Justin it sounds more like an Alt Rock song that is dance friendly. It's like Shawn Mullins steroids. Great song.

I don't live in Nashville, so this station doesn't impact me directly. But BPM has been playing it for something like three months. DHT was #1 on BPM in February? March? April? Back then sometime.

They play that here on Wrzx sometimes, but only at night. What are you doing in Nashville anyway? LOL I thought you lived in Florida.

I think I've already posted this before, but I recently moved to Nashville to work in the family business, Real Estate.
I can pick up over more Top 40 station in Nashville then I could in Orlando!

Aside from 107.5 The River and 102.5 The Party, I can also easily pick up Magic 98.5 Cookeville, and Wuhu 107 Bowling Green also comes in very clearly most of the time.
If that's not enough I can oftentimes pick up 106.9 Kicks FM from Cookeville, and now with my new Pioneer I can tune into 104.3 ZYP Huntsville, and 103.7 The Q Birmingham.

Hey Midwestclubber, you know St. Louis pretty well right? I might head out there for the weekend. Any recommendations (not just in terms of clubs, but in general) ?

Yeah but BPM isn't based in Nashville. While it's awesome BPM is early on so many records, it's nice to hear local FM radio stations pick up on Dance records as well.
FM radio still has a bigger spehere of influence then any satellite radio station.

Well, Club Wise.... I would check out THE OZ, which is located in East Saint Louis, on the first exit over the bridge. Then turn right, go a few blocks, and it will be on the Right, Next to another club (cant remember the name of that club though, but they play Rock. The OZ, is the buliding on the LEFT, that is the one you want. If you go on Sunday Nights, 105.7 THE POINT broadcasts live there, on the 18 and over night. Radio Wise, Check out both CHR POP z107.7, and Modern Rock 105.7 The Point, for weekend Dance Mix shows. Saint Louis does have alot of Bad Neighborhoods, and actually The OZ is kind of in one, but if you are Careful, you will be fine. There are plenty of Clubs in SLM, but the OZ plays the best music, at least they did a few years ago. Just listen to the Radio, there are TONS and TONS of Club Comercials played all the time. Also, avoid the Small out of the way Gas Stations, and ATMs at night, it is very easy to get robbed in some of the neighborhoods there. ALSO, Be ware, of all the F.cked up (One Way streets) in Downtown, it can be like a Maze..... GOOD LUCK.....

Thanks for the tips man. St. Louis is a big city, and a relatively old one too, so it makes sense that its street system is messed up. I'll be sure to use a map.
A lot of cities have clubs in shady neighborhoods, so I'm not surprised that caution is advised. I think there's also club Velvet and Liquid in St. Louis, but I'm not sure.
I know what the radio dial is like in "Da Lou", but thanks anyways for mentioning Z and The Point. I think there's also a suburban Modern Rocker, and some good College stations over there too.

There's a good chance I'll be over there either this weekend or the next one.

I wouldn't say that BPM is early on most records. Only a few. (Anything that is an import). They are a dance outlet, CHR is not. Here's how it usually works....

Format specific song gets spins on targed stations - dance songs on dance stations... then if the songs do really well the labels try to cross them to chr pop or rhythmic. Dance may start playing a song in February but it isn't promoted to CHR until June. We would often have to wait months for a remix of a song already on CHR. Was the CHR station early? No.

It's no different in any other format. Alternative songs that do well get a push on CHR, Country songs on AC, CHR to AC.

Also, early is relative. If you live in city 'x' and don't listen to out of market stations, it doesn't matter when your local station adds a record, it's new to you. It's always nice when everyone is on the same page.

When I programmed KNRJ, all I would hear is 'KTU' is the only station that matters. Well someone has to start the 'story' for 'KTU' before they'll even look at the record (always exceptions). KTU is often 'late' with songs, but then again it's all relative. A programer should only care about their market. Now that I'm back on the net our audience is global, so we've made some adjustments at Energy 98.

Most of the listeners at any station, internet or otherwise, don't even know about this forum. We're more aware of what is going on.
