Wow! Charlotte radio market to be ranked #25

But Mike, you missed some:

WPZS Indian Trail, but moved in from Albemarle
WQNC Harrisburg, but came on the air as a "move in"
WNOW Gaffney
WMNX (?) Waxhaw, originally allocated to Kershaw SC, moved to Waxhaw, "moved in" to Charlotte
WBT-FM Chester SC

Then there are non-commercials: WDAV, Davidson, WNSC, Rock Hill, WRCM, Wingate.

But what kind of radio market would Charlotte be with only 4 commercial FMs? Have you ever heard of a city of 650,000 with 4 FMs?

You're right, most of those I don't even think of but I disagree with WDAV and WNSC because technically they are not move ins. WDAV is still in Davidson and WNSC is still in South Carolina. I assume the Jazz format comes from Columbia?

Charlotte with only 4 commercial FM's is hard to comprehend but it would make the operators of those four stations very rich I assume! We'll never know.

Go back to the original table of allocation and I think you would find it not unusual for a city the size of Charlotte to have only 4 FM signals.

I also wouldn't consider Davidson a move-in. Is it not in Mecklenburg County?
