WPEN-AM SPORTSRADIO 950 becomes 950 ESPN as of 4/1/08

WPEN's 25 kW day signal sounds just fine, thank you. I DO think they should try to do something with the night setup at the WWDB site. Signal strength from there isn't that great. Some nights in winter, driving home from WVCH, I've heard the 950' in Rochester, and WWJ Detroit poke through Jody's show from time to time. Not to mention the clock ticks from Radio Reloj in Cuba....

ESPN-950 hits the air -- but why on 4/1?

ESPN Radio has the national rights to Major League Baseball and NBA basketball. WPEN-950 could have eased into ESPN next Sunday (3/30) for Opening Night, Atlanta at Washington, the first game from the Nationals' new ballpark.

This week's NERW fills in the ESPN-950 lineup: Mike & Mike (ESPN) 6-9 AM, Jody MacDonald 9 AM-1 PM, Mike Tirico (ESPN) 1-3 PM, Mike Missanelli (ex-WIP) 3-7 PM, Harry Mayes/Dan Schwartzman 7-11 PM.
