WPHT 1210 AM, a 1.4 in the latest ratings

Interesting points by OldNumber7 and TimeIsTight. (I'd say they've done work some work in advertising).

So it isn't just radio. That explains when a song is downloaded, for instance, you're bombarded with suggestions for other similar songs and/or artists. I must admit it works—I'm guilty of falling for this trick.

TimeIsTight's analysis sure hits home. It happened to me a couple weeks ago. I bought some books at Barnes & Noble on the subject of decluttering and organization... and right there on my receipt were recommendations for 5 other how-to books on getting organized. Furthermore, now they know something else about me. With my purchase, I probably reinforced the stereotype that older folks still prefer books over the Nook or Kindle versions.

Big Brother certainly is watching.

WWDB 96.5 was Philadelphia's most successful Talk station, with hosts who were all over the place and several hosts who never talked about politics.

That reminded me that we're coming up on the 12th anniversary of Dr. Jim Corea's passing. Now that certainly was a one-of-a-kind show.

By the way, Harry Gross retired, didn't he? I don't think he was on WWDB, but I always enjoyed his financial advice.

If WPHT's ratings go down even further when the ratings are released later today, then I would think that CBS must do something drastic. A 50,000 watt station should not have low ratings like this.

Dr. Jim was a gentleman. I had the pleasure of speaking to him personally (not on his show) on the phone in 1991. He could have very easily just have given me the brush off but he did not. The man really cared. Still hard to believe he is gone.
