Unlike you, I was in the thick of talkradio during the 20+ year period I've mentioned, mostly in major markets. All you know is what you read in the trades and on messageboards. I have worked with/for some of the morons who shaped this mess we have today.

Your theories are born of conjecture mixed with an ideologically motivated desire to rewrite history.

Wouldn't live and local during drive time be better?

I agree with you that Hannity should be live and Dick Morris moved, but your reasoning is all off. There is no reason to have the number two show in all of America on tape delay.

The talk format isn't being programmed to his personal taste, hence management is "dysfunctional." Radio is aiming for a lowest common denominator, but not quite that low.

"I cannot confirm nor deny the rumor that Rush will be rejoining WPHT in late October. Currently, he is under contract by another company," Rayfield wrote in an email. "However, if and or when he becomes available, I think it's fair to say that we have interest. What team wouldn't want Cliff Lee in their starting rotation?"

Well, maybe a team run by ideologically insensate boors, but fortunately they're too busy flooding this board with twaddle to run radio stations.

If they are bringing back Limbaugh they must be getting desperate to try to get better ratings. So much for "live and local". That was a joke.

I think that they need a total makeover with this format. Hopefully the new PD will right the ship for the station.
