WPIA/WRIA 98.5/96.5 KISS-FM Peoria... Clear Channel?

Ok, I have to ask. I don't understand. How are WPIA/WRIA 98.5/96.5 Kiss FM in Peoria AND 106 KISS-FM Evansville, IN able to use the "Clear Channel Kiss-FM" logo? Neither of the two stations are owned by Clear Channel 106.1 KissFM in Evansville, IN is owned by Regents and 98.5/96.5 Kiss FM in Peoria, IL is owned by Independence Media. Are they in anyway, affiliated with Clear Channel as for the right to the Kiss/CC logo?
 
There are two possibilites...the most likely is first.
1) The other companies (Regent, Independence) pay CC a licensing fee every month (or other timeframe)
2) CC doesn't care that other companies use the KISS brand
 
Oh CC cares what companies use the KISS brand. BELIEVE ME, they do. However, I have to agree with option A, the companies pay a licensing fee
 
It's probably more that they can use it...so long as there are no Clear Channel interests in the area. If and when Clear Channel puts a "Kiss" in the market, they issue a C&D on the non-CC station.

As I've heard it, WPIA/WRIA are licensing the Kiss name/logo from Clear Channel. WDKS in Evansville was once a Clear Channel "Kiss" but was swapped to Regent for the Brill cluster in Duluth, MN that Regent was in the process of acquiring. I would guess Regent got a licensing for "Kiss" worked out in the transaction.
