WPRI'S Karen Adams Retiring From WPRI-TV On December 30th

Sports reporter Erin Cofiell from WAFB just started on WJAR today. Things are changing. One says goodbye and one says hello. Everything always evens out. Karen will be missed. Funny thing is that I learned karen was leaving from watching ABC 6 News. They did a whole report on it at 6.

Maybe management decided she was making to much money. And opted not to renew her contract. If that is the case.
They're putting a spin on it, to avoid anything negative from the viewers who like her. They'll probably do a half hour special
to give her a proper 'send-off' in December. And towards the end, introduce her replacement..

They said she will live in Rhode Island for 6 months of the year and live in North Carolina for the other 6 months of the year. So this seems like it's going to work out just fine for her. You can't keep your job when you won't even be living here for half the year.

There are a number of Bo-Prov veteran broadcasters who are on thin ice. Of course they continue to do effective work but others can do it for less.
Natalie, Lobel, and now Karen found that out.

I don't believe Karen is in anyway caught in a budget cutting scheme. She recently married, and the well to do gentleman has a home in North Carolina. Hence the 6 months there, and six months here. After a total of 30 + years in the business, she deserves to retire at the young age of 55 and persue her interests. Great Career, Great Person!
