Holden said it’s a bittersweet time to go home because his father has "aggressive Stage 5 Kidney Disease & failing health."

Holden has a few more weeks left at Channel 11 before he officially becomes a reporter at WEWS-TV in Cleveland.

Before you say anything, yinzers, know that Mike Holden has an exceptionally good reason to be leaving Pittsburgh for Cleveland.
The 32-year-old Parma, Ohio, native joined WPXI-TV as a reporter in 2016. On June 24, he will leave Channel 11 for a similar job at WEWS-TV in Cleveland, a station he grew up watching and interned at while earning his degree in broadcast journalism from Kent State University.
It’s tough to blame anyone for wanting to be closer to home — even when said home is Cleveland. But Holden’s desire to be nearer to family stemmed from the fact his father has been ill for a while with stage-five kidney disease and Type 2 diabetes. He has been in and out of the hospital a lot lately, and Holden has spent many weekends finishing up his WPXI shifts and immediately driving to Cleveland.
