WQAM, Power 96, and Kiss Country go to CBS in a Trade.

oops.. sorry for starting a separate thread. we must have posted at exactly the same time . . . and I hear you point. well taken.

The end of live and local for these stations as we know it.

Why "the end"? CBS operates nearly all of its stations, right down to the little AC in Palm Springs, as live and local.

Exactly. These are two very similar companies. They believe in local autonomy, and local management. Unlike Clear Channel and Cumulus, they don't own a syndication company, and they don't do any national programming.

Sorry David: You are being fooled. They used too be live and local and cared about that!!! Now that Moonves took over they have destroyed all of there stations!! I SHOULD KNOW!! I USED TO WORK FOR CBS!! NOW I AM ON THE UNEMPLYMENT LINE AS WELL AS MOST OF MY CO- WORKERS!! WIRK 107.9 WAS ALL LIVE AND LOCAL MOONVES TOOK OVER AND THEY VOICE TRACKED 7PM-12MID AND 12 MID-6AM!! Sunny 104.3 VOICED TRACKED 8PM-6AM! ll they are is another cheap channel. I feel sorry for WQAM. MAYBE MAYBE they won't mess with it due to the fact all of there Sports outlets are live and local. But I don't trust them one bit.

Sorry needed to put in my 2 cents

T.J.

I will second what TJ said. CBS was voice tracking WKQC Charlotte where I worked back in 2005-2007 and beyond. Voice tracked 7pm till 6am and often all weekend long. The only time the station was local on the weekends was when the station had a remote broadcast from somewhere. The remote breaks were often pre-recorded anyway and not done live. All the CBS stations went on delay 24/7 most likely as a spill over from the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction.

TJ and Mike, even if we accept your premise/prediction that CBS will voice-track its stations between 7 PM and 6 AM, that is still better than what Clear Channel is doing between 6 AM and 7 PM! Look at all the voice-tracked and/or syndicated hours that Clear Channel runs on its Miami stations. Between Elvis Duran and Ryan Seacrest on Y-100, and all of the out-of-town voice-tracking on both Y and WMIA, there are hardly any live and local shifts on those stations.
