As someone with on air experience & for 30 years after that in radio advertising sales, sadly: I agree. The incredible popularity & time spent on line by the public has become an enormous game changer.
It’s not about radio ratings, cume audience, programming/format, even lack of great personalities. It’s about the billions of advertising dollars (likely trillions) that have shifted to the web because of lower ad costs & better effectiveness of advertising on websites sites & social media -vs- traditional medias. Ad dollars following billions of consumers to the web.
Before the internet existed, totally different story.
Thank heavens I no longer have to rely on local media ad sales in order to support myself, family, pets. Such a different world!

Will miss the Country format when I am up in NE Ohio even though there are a lot of other "country" options! Despite WQKT being a syndicated format I did enjoy the mix of country.
