WQRP 89.5 fm (Praise 89,5 fm) for sale in Dayton

Word has it that WQRP 89.5 fm owned by WQRP Family Radio is up on the block. Rumor is that the asking price is $475,000.00. Way too much for a station that is shared still with Dayton Public Schools. This is a real shame for the station, they have all tried hard there but it is another example of corporate radio. EMF (K-Love has hurt this station a lot). Anybody want to guess on a buyer ... will K-love pick it up or will Dayton Public Schools take itover so they can finally recognize their dream of going 24.

WDPR had a CP for 88.1, 0.6KW at 238 meters. Looks like the Dayton Public Television tower. So 89.5 could then be full time for whoever buys it and then likely worth the asking price too. From the FCC date they may already be operating at 88.1.

WDPR has been on 88.1 for a few years now. A while back they swapped dial positions and WQRP moved from full time on 88.1 to the time share at 89.5.

File this one away as an unsubstantiated rumor.

Oh yeah - WDPR's CP does nothing to change their facilities, only changes their City of License.

I would let Dayton Public Schools (WDPS) have the station..still the asking price is steep and that may not sit well with the local voters come election day when the operating levy comes up again.

How powerful is it anyway?

Slightly less coverage than a full Class A...6 kW at 64 meters AAT, directional with a null to the SSW to protect WHSS in Hamilton.

Transmitter is on top of that building with the white arches on the sides in downtown Dayton.
