WRBZ Radio Wetumpka 95.7 has moved to 95.5 on the FM dial.

Be advised that WRBZ (AM 1250 khz) Wetumpka FM translator is now on another frequency. The frequency has moved down one notch from 95.7 to 95.5. The move comes after WKXN in Greenville moved to Fort Deposit and changed frequencies from 95.9 to 95.7. The overlap in Montgomery of the two stations was damaging to both signals on 95.7, so WRBZ applied to change translator frequencies down a notch and is now licensed at 95.5 mhz., a benefit to both WRBZ and WKXN.

I noticed they're using slightly less power now (244 watts vs the full 250) but it appears the signal won't be any worse for wear. 95.5 is pretty crowded in Alabama. CD Country in Thomasville and WTVY in Dothan might be an issue during tropo.

There is a translator on 95.5 that is rebroadcasting AM980 (still WKLF?) in Clanton, but I believe that actual translator is a little north of Clanton. I had listened to 95.5 here in Montgomery a few months back and could hear WTVY fade in and out and could also hear the Clanton translator on occasion (depending on what power line I went under or what the size of the structure that I was passing). All-in-all, moving to 95.5 looks to be a good move from 95.7 for WRBZ. Coverage more than 25 - 30 miles from the station is not really intended anyway. Having WKXN on 95.7 really had hurt 95.7 out of Wetumpka, particularly in north and northeastern Montgomery County, and even in southern Elmore County (such as Emerald Mountain), WRBZ on 95.7 was choppy. Thus, Wetumpka made the change down one notch to 95.5, both benefitting WRBZ and WKXN.
