WRCH goes to Christmas Music Friday/DRC-FM Christmas Hits Weekend

I'm sorry but maybe it's just me.... I don't like it when radio stations go ALL XMAS. Generally, one station in each market would be OK, but having 3 stations in a single market doing all XMAS basically turns into an XMAS pissing contest, and removes other content options for people who really don't want it... Personally, I like Christmas music on Christmas and Christmas Eve... Not the day before or the day after Thanksgiving. IMHO.

There's 3 stations in Connecticut doing the All Christmas thing not 3 in the Hartford Market. Lite 100.5 is in the Hartford Market, Star 99.9 is in the Bridgeport Market, and Soft Rock 106.5 is in the New London Market. WDRC-FM was only mixing in the Xmas tunes over the weekend with their regular mix of Oldies/Classic Hits.

Albany, New York has 3, but that's because one station plans on changing formats on December 26th. - Oldies 98.3, Santa 105.7, and Magic 590. The one that's going by the name of Santa 105.7 plans on changing formats on 12/26. What's really dumb is MAGIC 590 going Christmas. Why do Christmas music on AM when there's 2 FMers in the market doing? I understand that when they were on 100.9 FM, but now on 590 AM it's a waste.

I love Xmas music,I have it playing at work and making my co-workers happy and singing along.but widen the short playlist a bit. It's like having a 60g Ipod with only 30 xmas tunes in the shuffle mode.anyway at lease WRCH and Star will resume their reguler formats after the season is done.Like some stations in other states that went to a 24 hour xmas format, then they will abandon their original format and change to a another format alltogerter. that happen last year with some that I used to tune in online.

A footnote to add instead of starting another tread. Did anybody hear if WDRC is going Xmas Xmas eve friday.
Don't have the inside track this year, but I would be money on it based on past experience. I would also bet that Rob Ray will host it. He's really into that. Merry Christmas...

I heard a commercial on DRC-FM earlier. 36 hours of Christmas Music with limited commercial interruption begins 12 Noon Christmas Eve on DRC-FM. WRCH has been doing this for years dating back to when they were a Beautiful Music Station.

I assume this will include Rob Ray's Christmas Eve show, which always features some of the more obscure Christmas tunes in the DRC library.
