The pro wrestling world is in mourning once again this year, as a wrestling legend has passed away. Today, Harley Race lost his battle with Lung Cancer at the age of 76. He was a legend in the sport wrestling for the NWA, WWE and WCW and wrestled from 1960 until his retirement from full time wrestling action in 1991 after suffering a career ending injury in December of 1990. he also managed the likes of Big Van Vader, Lex Luger, Kevin Nash (as Vinnie Vegas) to name a few. He won the 10 pounds of gold aka the NWA World Heavyweight title for a total of 7 time, setting a record that was later broken by Ric Flair. He also was the winner of the 1986 King of The Ring tournament during his time in WWE. he was inducted in several hall of fames in his life including the now defunct WCW Hall of Fame as well as being inducted into WWE's Hall of Fame in 2004 as part of WWE relaunching the Hall of Fame as part of WrestleMania XX weekend that year.
He was dealing with numerous heath issues stemming from 2 car accidents and his career in pro wrestling until recently when he was diagnosed with Lung Cancer earlier this year, his health took a turn for the worse a few weeks ago on July 12 where he was hospitalized before he was meant to make a appearance at the Fanboy Expo in Knoxville, Tennessee.
