WRKO drops Coast to Coast for Howie Carr re-runs (1200 is coming!)

Someone on Save WRKO mentioned that Coast is Coast is gone from WRKO. Sure enough, a look at the WRKO webpage shows that the Fried Clam Man--in re-runs--will be on instead

Tuesday, February 9
Start Finish Program
12:00AM 1:00AM Jerry Doyle
1:00AM 5:00AM Howie Carr
5:00AM 5:30AM Wall Street Journal This Morning

http://www.wrko.com

No doubt this may have to do with Clear Channel starting WXKS AM 1200 on April 1. Premiere, a Clear
Channel division, syndicates Coast to Coast, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Glenn Beck. Supposedly RKO has a deal to run Rush till 2012 but who knows, that could end early.

It's a safe bet 1200 will debut with Beck, Hannity, and Coast to Coast at the very least

WABC NY and KABC LA have dropped CTC too, in favor of Citadel's new Doug McIntyre show

Wondering if the Howie re runs are just for now; Doug McIntyre's show may be a poss. (but would they rather have local but a rerun instead of live/national?) McIntyre supposedly calls himself a Republican but has liberal social views (prob not much diff. than the likes of Phil Hendrie or Dennis Miller?)

With all of this in store for Clear Channel, I've got to wonder if they are looking into an FM stick. 1200's signal may be tolerable from what I have read, but everybody knows AM radio will be dead pretty soon. I'm sure CC won't settle for less.

Boy, three markets gone for "C2C" in a week. That's a bad sign.

way too much c2c on am - go green, don't support the waste of electricity!

its on WHOM if you care about audio quality of a show where 90% of the talking is by someone on a phone

Glenn Beck may be gone from WRKO, too; he is still listed on "Weekend Shows" but the lineup for next Sat lists "Rusty Humphries" in the Sat night slot that had been best of Beck

Or, maybe, there is insider info that "C2C" is closing up shop and the ones in the know are making preemptive programming adjustments?

I must stress, however, this is pure, recreational speculation on my part——I haven't heard/read anything suggesting such! ;D

"Coast to Coast" is carried by stations in Worcester and Springfield, along with one other Mass station..so whatever fan base it has can catch it..

Losing NYC and LA will hurt, since its going to difficult to find a place for "Coast to Coast" to land..given a choice between George Noony and Phil Hendrie, I'd still listen to "Coast to Coast"..

If you head to flyover country you can't escape it..plenty of small market stations in the midwest depend on it as a safe option for overnights, unless you're content to run Fox Sports.

Indeed many distant stations run it and you can pick it up by skywave and it may be on satellite radio too

Note: Sirius XM does indeed have it; terrestrial affiliate list at link below though there are sure to be some
inaccuracies due to late changes

http://www.coasttocoastam.com/affiliates

The MA page still lists RKO (not changed yet) plus WTAG, WXTK, WHYN

NY page lists no NYC affiliate; it says KFI has it in LA now

Coast to Coast is not on WHOM, but it is on W235AV, the translator for WTAG in Worcester. Also, KABC in Los Angeles did not carry C2C, it's always been on CC's KFI.

Was Bill Cunningham syndie by Premiere too? WRKO sched for next Sun night now lists Bob Brinker in that time slot. So, Coast to Coast, best of Beck, Cunningham all gone?

But, hey, they're picking up Dennis Miller on Sunday afternoons! ;)

And for those on the South Shore, and on down to the South Coast....there's 630 WPRO, from Providence.

Also 95.1 WXTK on the Cape, and countless AM skywave stations like 840 WHAS, 1080 WTIC, 1100 WTAM, 1110 WBT, 1170 WWVA...

They've had Dennis Miller on Sun afternoons for awhile...perhaps he would replace Rush if CC takes
Rush from them. Or they could splurge and have local talk 12-3p with Avi Nelson?

I have found that both 1080-WTIC and 1100-WTAM have very good night time signals in this area for Coast to Coast...

Actually C2C hasn't always been on KFI. In the early-mid 90s when Art Bell was doing C2C it was on KABC. When COX sold KFI to Clear Channel they stole C2C from KABC. CC did the same exact thing around the same time in San Diego. C2C was on KFMB and when CC bought KOGO they stole C2C from them.

Last night I started at the left end of the AM dial and tried to pick up C2C but didn't get any real signals till WTIC, WTAM, WBT, etc

bostonradio tweeted that the new 1200 will probably take away Fox News Radio which is syndie by
Premiere, and RKO may have to go with the news service provided to Ingraham, Savage affiliates by
TRN
