WRKO PLAYS KERRY HEALEY CAMPAIGN COMMERCIAL FOR FREE- AN ILLEGAL MANEUVER

The standards only apply to political commercials and not to regular commerce.
( A.) Political commercials have to be paid for in advance. No credit allowed/ no billing.

(B) Those political commercial must have specific log times and NO Bonus spots allowed.

Howie Carr runs the Healey spots as a commercial - plain and simple.

No, no, and no. You are wrong on all three counts. I've been doing this for close to 40 years, and you have no idea what you're talking about. But, since you're so sure you're correct, let's see the citation in the FCC rules or the Communications Act which supports your view. They're both available online. We're waiting.

It is promoting a person running for office hidden within a bumper of a radio show. Yes, it's a free ad. I'm not even in radio and I can tell you that.

It is a free ad and ILLEGAL.

Well, maybe if you were in radio you would know about "fair use" regulations.

Howard Stern was prohibited from saying the name "Sirius" in ANY context on his show before the switch. Why? Because any mention of it was considered advertising.

No, it was not because of any regualtion of "free ads"...it was because his BOSS instructed him not to...

I think this is incorrect. a station *can* require payment in advance...or extend credit and bill them. While most stations no doubt require payment in advance, it is not a regulation....

Bonus spots? Is he playing the whole spot? Or simply using a portion under "fair use" for content on the show?

heard a soft-spoken man call in to Leveille tonight to discuss something
"we've been talking about on the radio boards", this whole WRKO deal. Wonder who it
was...perhaps the one who brought it up?...Don't worry, liberals, Patrick will win and
the socialist utopia you dream of will come true. Democrats have a special deal with
Diebold in this state--voting machines skew to the left. By Nov. 7, only three Republicans
will be in office in this state, probably dog catchers. And the Dems will still complain about how bad things are here with conservative media/politicians etc.!

Double that sales tax! Hike those fees and tolls! Drivers' licenses for everybody--illegal aliens, 10 year
olds, dead people! Happy days are here again....

Boy, I just looked back to the start of this thread.

The comments about billing practices, and what is legal and what is not, are entirely wrong.

I'm glad to see that others with knowledge of this have worked to correct those comments.

P.S. - Heard Healey on Paul Sullivan tonight on WBZ. Sounds like a smart woman, not a good candidate. And that's not an insult.
