WRLL May Flip To A New Kind Of Radio Format

This morning on "Address To The Nation" Larry Lujack had said that their is a radio station that used to be an oldies station, that now had flip to an brand nerw kind of a radio format called "Porn Radio" a new kind of a station that has X rated conversation and dirty music that relates to about sex. And this may take effect before the month of August is up!

Has anyone else had heard about this?
What is going on out there in radio-land?
Especially what if all the little children had tune in? and they hear this awfull garbage?

What do you all make of this???...

Lujak is joking a bout a stunt being concluded this week on a Fresno staiton that is switching form Christian to a form of rhythmic CHR. They are playing songs that have "sex" int he title and have deep breathing between songs. It is a stunt, intended to blow off the Christian audience and to attract attention to the new format. This is just a stunt.

Hi,
GrampaSquirrel As David Eduardo has pointed out. That has nothing to do with WRLL.
I heared that too and I knew that it was.
That happened days ago.

Maybe, Perhaps Yes! But Consider This As A Stunt!!!...

My cousin had told me that, all of this going on with WRLL AM-1690 changing formats
and the rumers that was going on this board, was just a scare! So that WRLL can get more listeners audiances, so that more people can tune into WRLL

So there for, I think NOT that WRLL will ever Change their format, because it is the only station that actully plays rare tunes of the 50s & 60s.

However WZZN 94.7 plays almost the same stuff as WRLL does, but without Frank, Dean, and Bing. True Oldies 94.7 more rely on the mostly the 60s rather than the 50s.

And beats only a bunch of suburban stations in the ratings, on a frequency that a lot of their target audience can't pick up because they have old radios? I don't think so.

what does that have to do with anything? if u got very few listener u got to change to something else. pretty simple. besides stations don't start **RUMORS" as 'just a scare' to get more listeners. that only works in a fantasy make-believe world

How do you know? I've seen and heard a few radio stations during in the past from many years ago had made a scare to their listeners stating that they were going to sell their radio stations to another company.

For Example: WJJG AM-1530 had mad a few recent scare attacks! They said that they're were almost sold out to another company, and now they added on a few new programs from WVON. WJJG had sad that they were going off the air several years ago!

Another Example: WMBI AM-1110 had made their scare attack by saying that they were going to sell out to Air America, before Air America went on to WCPT AM-850.
and there weren't going to be no more "JUST FOR KIDS" with Dianne Popcycle.
Although there aren't any JUST FOR KIDS on the air anymore, but WMBI still servive. This was about 2 or 3 years ago when this happened.

So you see? This is NOT in a Make believe world!

WMBI still has "Just For Kids" Sunday afternoons at 3:00. I'm not sure how many hours it runs.

WRLL AM-1690 isn't all that big neither! Just because they have Larry Lujack & Tommy Edwards running a small time low power rinky dink radio station.

Excuse me for sounding like a cynic but these decisions are made in far off places based upon revenue expectations and demographics.

If the station isn't programmed from a distant location than it isn't worth much (to "them" or us).

Chicago is not what it once. It has lost much of it's corporate punch and so many decisions are made elsewhere on so many things that affect our daily lives including whom we see deliver the news and who does the morning show. While we have "regional VP's" they must check with San Antonio, Salt Lake City, etc. before they decide upon the hiring of anybody strategic to the business.

Because 1690 is part of Clear Channel, there is nothing you can do so just relax and enjoy the ride.
