WROO? What's next on the carousel of formats for 107.3?

I read in this weeks NERW that CC's country station has new calls - WROO.

Does this portend another format flip? Maybe Australian Hits as Kangaroo 107.3? ;D

Apparently, another Clear Channel station somewhere had requested the call-letters WCRR, so a switch was made. Don't think anyone really noticed anyway, as they rarely refer to the station by the calls.

Haha, you may be joking, but in reality, the WROO calls were formerly used by Clear Channel in Jacksonville, FL on 107.3 and the station was known as "Rooster Country 107.3"

Makes sense! The other alternative is to format 24 hours of the Buck-A-Roo Club starring Tim Kincaid! :)

Aw, Scooter, you beat me to it... :)

All Aussie, all the time... ROO 107.3, eh mate?

"G'day Mornings" with A. Matey, the "No Worries Lunchtime" with call in contests to win free tucker from Outback and a year's supply of Vegemite*, the "Down Under Matinee" for overnights...

All the hits from Olivia Newton-John, INXS, Men At Work, Keith Urban, Icehouse, Natalie Imbruglia, and, er, uh...

*Which for me would be one jar (empty)

Don't think so. And even if it were true it would be either satellite or jockless. Then the format wouldn't last more than 6 months.

LOL, qman is such a card!! Even the "Toronto Bills" don't go jockless. (Disclaimer: The views expressed only represent the poster - he can cause he pays Erie County taxes supporting Ralph Wilson Stadium)

You're a funny guy goner! DISCLAIMER: The views expressed are the poster's. He can because he pays Monroe County taxes which support Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Dang - now I'm "goner"....hmmm :D - Anyway, how can Monroe County be paying taxes for the Ralph? (maybe I'm stupid?)

The argument could be made that people in Monroe County are paying taxes toward the Ralph. NY gives $ to the Ralph and we give money to the state. But we're really straying here. Maybe 107.3 could go back to being The Nerve. I doubt it but it could.

Trying to get back on subject: I have another suggestion about WROO, for what it's worth. 107.3 has never really done anything for Clear Channel -brought in any revenue or shaved points off WBEE, so wouldn't it be great if C. C. sold the station to someone local (maybe a Bob Savage type) and maybe pick up AM 1310, too. Then actually serve the people of Ontario county and vicinity with local programing (no religion). I know it is a novel idea but I believe a local station could make a profit and would not really compete with Rochester stations. I know, what a dreamer.

Looked up WROO-FM on Radio Locator. Very strange. Not being from Rochester, perhaps you Flower City folks could enlighten us.

If The Zone ever flips, I'd bet on it.

That was a great camp song - back in the day!! Thanks for reminding me!
