WRXW 93.9 FM transfer to ICBC also dismissed with FCC?

To prevent this thread from going off on some sinister conspiracy theory tangent,or possible suggested changes of format or ownership, or alien abduction rumors, let me share that 93.9 is set up as an LMA with ICBC and will remain as such.

Tim -

Do you know if Backyard backed out of the $700k contract then? It sounded like a steal of a deal to me for that price - I can't believe that it would have been dismissed because of ICBC backing away from such a fantastic purchase price.

Thanks!

Since prices are slowly getting back to normal again, $700K for WRXW is fair. As far as the LMA with WRXW versus a purchase. . . .that is curious.

Since I really appreciate the paycheck they give me, you'll have to excuse me not giving out any details of my employer's business transactions. I assume you wouldn't want to discuss your station's monthly billing numbers, etc. Just wanted to let others that visit this board know that we're doing just fine at the opulent Odyssey suites of Pear Orchard.

While I wouldn't mind discussing our station's monthly revenue, I can understand that most people would probably appreciate keeping that kind of information within the company. Point taken. Anyone interested can look up WYAB's billing with BIAfn.

From the outside observer, however, it is absolutely newsworthy and a pertinent topic on this board that ICBC would pull out of a deal to sell WKXI 1400 AM to Pollack Broadcasting, and then days later, the FCC would dismiss the sale of WRXW from Backyard to ICBC.

I'm sure there are good reasons.

I'm sure those reasons aren't supposed to be disclosed to the public.

I'm also sure that I wish I knew what those reasons were!

Keeping in mind that the FCC had already approved both deals, you have to assume that the deals were dismissed upon request . . . but by whom?

In the case of WRXW, why would ICBC turn an approved sale into an LMA? How does that make any sense? It always works where the LMA becomes a sale, never the other way around. You would have to think that at some point ICBC will end up with WRXW, but why the delay?

As far as WKXI, there are two likely possibilities, the buyer pulled out and lost their escrow or ICBC pulled out. . . . a scenario that is far more complicated.

One thing about radio, nothing stays a secret for long!!
